They make the best bagels without doubt. Holy Moly check out their biscuits - man they are good. Coffee? Heavenly. Their food sections are worthy of a look see. Always look mouth watering. The atmosphere is a bit spartan, but they have had a makeover recently so much improved. It is an experience to have coffee at Glicks especially if you are not of the faith. I love it.

Approximate cost: $8

Yummy bagels and blintzes, a challah that is worth it to book or to be early for on Fridays (irregular quantity purchases (hard to predict), so a good idea to have a regular booking or to come just after lunch- The staff have a lot of work, due to the large number of customers, so the number system (when used) helps to avoid jewish disputes worth writing a book about-
Lovely produce for a small shabbat or a brunch or the next morning or even French toasts with the remainder of the challah (well better buy two!!!)-
There is something very heimish about the Glicks experience and it's lovely to see the pull of a simple bagel on the jewish community from ultra-orthodox to liberal.

I use to buy the packaged bagels from Woolworths (can't remember the name) but they are about $4 for a pack of 4. Before I became a bagel expert I found them nice but one day, Woolworth's started stocking the packs of Glick's bagels for $2.99 (pack of 4). Oh my, had I wished I'd found them earlier! So much more appealing inside and fresher, not to mention cheaper. I am addicted to the white/poppyseed top with either honey or vegemite pending my craving each morning. After all the bagels I have tried, Glick's have come out the favourite. Recommended.

Approximate cost: $2.99 (4)

I make the trek to Glick's on a monthly basis to order Rye Bread and Bagels. Out of consideration I always pre-order a couple days in advance for the quantity I require. On several occasions, I get there, and they do not have my order ready or there at all to pick up.
I have voiced my concerns to them in person (with no progress), and on their Website. It has been a month so far and I am still yet to hear back from them.

I really love the Bagels and Bread I get from Glick's, but I think that the young kids working there need to pull up their game and actually provide better Customer Service.

I have now since been making a drive once a month to the Malvern Glick's who have since been taking my orders (properly) and they have been getting it right, every time!!!

I grew up in NY and good bagels are very hard to find here in melbourne - these are pretty close. They have a great selection of other good jewish fare to eat - love theie egg salad with pickles on a bagel!

A Sunday morning tradition - get up early, and head down to Glicks to get some bagels (Make sure you ask for hot ones - fresh from the oven!) A mixture of plain and sesame seed to keep all the troops happy, pop into Coles nearby to get some Smoked Salmon (lox) and Cream Cheese.... and you have the traditional New York experience right here in Melbourne.

Boiled bagels, as only they should be, for around 80c each - much cheaper than the flight to New York.... pick up some Poses Pickels too if you like Pickled Cucumbers!

A great range of dips, and fresh Challas on Friday afternoon..... watch out for the little old ladies trying to push in ahead of you.... they can be persistant!

The onion rolls are also a favourite..... with lashings of butter! Mmmmm.

If you're looking for traditional boiled bagels Glicks is the place to go. When we first visited New York over 10 years ago we were amazed at the selection of bagels you could get. Glicks doesn't have quite the same range as some of those New York bakeries but their bagels are only about 80 cents and you can buy plenty of dips etc to put on them. I really like their egg dip which goes perfectly with a bagel (albeit tricky to spread on a thin round piece of bread!)

If you haven't tried a boiled bagel make sure you visit Glicks soon!

Approximate cost: $only 80 cents!

Best Bagels I found in Australia. As close to NY as you can get here. They have much more like cakes and pastries plus some savory classic Jewish food.
