I wasn't very satisfied with my taro milk tea. It tasted very powdery and wasn't as good as the drinks offered at cheaper alternative bubble tea stores.
This is definitely the best milk tea I've tasted! I love the milk foam idea -- luckily I had a friend with me who taught me how to drink it -- either milk alone (by lifting the lid), tea alone (suck through the straw), or shake it and drink 'milk tea'! You can actually taste the fragrance of the tea and taste the sweetness and creaminess of the milk, unlike most other milk tea which just tastes artificial. We did have to wait almost 10mins for the drink even though it was early in the morning and supposedly less people, service efficiency can be improved.
Gong Cha is one of the many "bubble tea" shops in Asia. They specialise in sweet tea drinks (usually served cold but may be ordered hot as well). Original bubble tea usually comes with pearl sago (with milk tea). However, if you decide to try Gong Cha, I suggest you don't bother with the usual pearl milk tea (they taste the same with other place but more expensive). Instead, I highly recommend their signature taste: the tea with milk foam. I found their tea very fragrant and the milk foam is a nice addition. You can either drink it from the cup without straw (and get that milk moustache) , with the straw and drink the tea and milk separately, or you can mix the tea and the milk foam (this is my favourite way). I haven't tried the other mixture yet but my husband loves the #2 most popular one (apparently it has that citrus taste to it). The plus of this place is that you can ask them to adjust the amount of ice and sweetness according to taste. Be prepared to queue though.
Approximate cost: $5
