This review is for Hot Cake House, Sunnybank QLD

I recently tried their vegetarian pancake as there was a special for half price for 1 day only. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but it turned out extremely yummy!!! It tastes like the Japanese okonomiyaki, but is filled with vegetables and what tasted like glutinous rice cake. The seaweed topping smelled sooo good, and with the pancake cut into 4 slices, I shared with my friends and they loved it too. The pancake does take at least about 15mins for them to make it, so it is a bit of a wait; but you're guaranteed a fresh and hot one!

Awesome new, well-maintained facility; loved the Brisbane International! the Pat Rafter Arena is a suitable sized venue, though it would be great if they could expand court 1 and have more food choices on site. But nonetheless a great atmosphere and will be returning next year definitely!

I gave this place a 5star review over a year ago but sadly I have to say I am very disappointed with my recent visits. I have found that their cutting down the filling they put into their sushi - the last 2-3 mouthfuls are just rice and seaweed - I hate places that try to get away with not putting stuffing in the end of a sushi roll and sadly this place has become one of them :( The food is still fresh but it's definitely overpriced now with their reduced quantity of serving. Very disappointed!

This is a new noodle place inside Sunnybank Plaza. I tried it for the sake of trying something new. Their wonton soup noodle - wontons are delicious and well cooked, though the noodles and soup are not as authentic as the ones in Hong Kong (seems like no place in Brisbane has the same taste as Hong Kong!). A bit pricey for the portion size and rather basic seating arrangements typical of noodle bars.

Approximate cost: $12

This is a relatively new Korean restaurant in the popular Market Square dining precint in Sunnybank. The fit out is modern, clean and chic; the menu are well priced -- most mains are under $15. Serving size is reasonably big - unless you're a big eater you will have some trouble finishing everything on your plate. Overall quality is above average - I find all the dishes are well seasoned, though no 'wow' factor. Sides are yummy; and free to top up. Service is quick and hassle free. Split bill available; eftpos minimum is $20.

Overall a very decent restaurant! Good for friends catchup's. Will visit again :)

I had some errands to do in the area and afterwards decided to have dinner at this place as I was too lazy to go home and cook. I ordered a fish burger with chips - you can choose your choice of salt for the chips (chicken salt, normal salt or no salt). I just wish they have the option of changing the chip to salad. Serving size was big, and tastes good. I didn't have to wait too long (10mins), and there is self serve water available. Good experience overall, although I think their prices is slightly high (considering rent in that area should not be high).

I've been meaning to try this place but always forgot about its existence cos you have to walk just outside of the shopping centre. Ordering is a bit confusing for first timers - first you decide what rice/noodles you want - the guy gives you the dish, then you move across and grab a plate and help yourself to whatever fried dishes you like in front of you, then slide across to counter to pay.

I tried the beef udon with takoyaki. Takoyaki was crisp on the outside and still hot, and the udon was very nice - soup not salty at all, just refreshing with a pleasant taste. Price is reasonable. The interior design of the place makes you feel like you're in Japan!

This review is for Koogi Hair Dressing, Brisbane QLD

verified email - 24 Nov 2013

I read a lot of internet reviews before trying as I always have nightmares to hairdressers due to my thick difficult to manage wavy hair. Lucky I read the reviews cos without it I couldn't have managed to even find the place! You go up the stairs just behind the kebab shop that is next to night owl.

I had a Korean girl cut my hair for me $38 without wash. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (cos many reviews I read say the hairdressers had poor command of English) and made sure she feels my hair type is suitable for the style I wanted. The girl's English is actually quite good, no problem communicating at all. The finished hairstyle was reasonable, though I found 1 bit sticking out that I had to cut off myself after washing my hair at home (she did warn me without washing my hair there she couldn't guarantee some bits may stick out). She did not try to sell me anything; in fact, when I say I wanted straightening done in the future she advised against it as my hair is already very dry and further damage is not good.

This review is for Origin Kebabs, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD

The kebabs are quite nice, meat are tender and juicy and well seasoned. However their chips are waaaaaaay too salty! I had to throw out most of the chips as it was so salty it was inedible (I hate to waste food normally).

This review is for Fussy Gutters, Mount Gravatt QLD

I needed gutters replaced around the whole house, and I had a difficult time finding someone as most companies seem to do gutter cleaning rather than replacing gutters! I found fussy gutters online, and decided to give them a try. They are not the cheapest around but Mike is very experienced and give you a detailed quote on what needs to be done. Mike doesn't do the work himself and contracts it to someone else, and only checks it in the end. I think Fussy Gutters are especially great if you really need personalised design and service.
