I have taken animals to this practice since it was owned by Dr Taylor in Keira Street in the 50s. I stayed with them thru all their iterations but it is now simply a big business. You never see the same vet and they simply treat the animal for the problem they present with on the day. The vets, with a couple of exceptions are young and inexperienced and certainly don’t generate any level of confidence. Have gone back to a small practice with 2 vets who actually do know your animals and who are very experienced. They are also significantly less expensive.

One the positive side, you can see a vet with no appointment which can be really convenient , and I have made after hour phone enquiries where the vets have been very helpful. On the negative side I never know which vet I will get - some are good but many are junior and inexperienced. It is difficult to build a repore or trust under these circumstances and I'm always left wondering what services have been upsold to me and whether some of these were actually necessary. At the end of the day Greencross is big business making some huge profits on the stock market and expanding at a rapid rate - and I have to ask myself whether I really want my pets treated by business vets who are focussed on maximising their profits. I realise all vets run a small business and have to be business minded but at least they may recognise my pet and get to know them and their health history on a more personal level and ask after them. There is nothing worse then feeling I've come through a sausage factory, particularly after I spent thousands of dollars with them recently and kept seeing different vets with no prior background on my pet apart from what was written on her record. Too impersonal for me and I will be going elsewhere in future.

Approximate cost: $3500

I had cause to call after hours i spoke with Matt. I have an old 21 yr old dog. Matt is BRILLIANT he didnt rush me. was very helpful, explained what i should expect with my dogs life ending. How i can comfort him. I am not a customer of green cross. My normal vet gave me their number for afterhours. I would highly recommend them and wouldnt hesitate using them again at any cost.
Matt the vet thank you .

I cannot praise this Vet clinic enough! I have been taking my animals to them for over 25 years and I love them! They are the most dedicated friendly vet clinic. My dogs have visited many times and sometimes under very traumatic circumstances. They are always patient, understanding and very caring. The vets are kind and the vet nurses are fantastic! I would recommend them 100%.

The vet is okay but is quite expensive. The staff are nice though and really know there stuff. The hours are quite good but they maybe need to open a bit later.

They have held my dog overnight free of charge when it has been lost, and have great staff and a beautiful hospital. Great vet, very generous and caring.

Great after hours service. They have food for your pets (Science Diet) and a large waiting room. They often have litters of kittens that may have been surrendered and we have bought 2 from them over the years. Great cats... very good service.

Best service and would trust them with any animal. They gave us a quote to clean our dogs teeth though and it was $500. A bit too expensive for us but I could never fault their service or quality. We ended up finding that procedure a lot cheaper else where but we still use this vet for many reasons.
