I've been a regular here for a few yrs now! The food is quick, fast and fresh, although lately that i've been here I have noticed an increase in prices!

The decor is pretty basic with plain tables and chairs inside and huge menu display above the counter!

I always order the beef noodle stir fry and the wonton noodle soup! Food comes out within 10 minutes usually as I get takeaway for the family!

Great spot in Newtown and great for takeaway!

I have been a regular customer to the Happy Chef since few years ago. I always love to order their fish ball noodle soup.
They let you to choose your own noodle. and it serve up very fast.
Years ago this place was nice and cheap. Not anymore, the food price in this place has been sky rocketing :(

I have been going here for over 20 years, it used to be old and dingy but hey have renovated since. The food is an absolute standout. I get the mongolian lamb steamed dim sum or combination short soup. They are open late and have a liquor licence. It is very popular place, its not a restaraunt as such but more like a noodle house.

This is one of the few restaurants I can say I happily still eat at after more than 15 years. It is always good. Try the spicy beef soup with rice noodles for a real treat.

The food tastes really good. i tried a sweet and sour dish and it was nice with fresh veg. The service us great. i think i will go back again.

Greeted at the counter by Friendly smiling faces is always a great start. Followed by great service, each order prepared specifically as requested, meal to the table in great time and presentation is amazing. The food is great, full of flavour and a very generous serve size for what you pay. Overall great experience, I recommend it to all... Yummo!!

This is a large Chinese restaurant in the centre of Newtown. The food is good and reasonably priced. The decor is very basic. Good to take a group to for a quick meal before heading to the movies across the road.

So hard to find great tasting authentic Chinese or Asian cuisine, they are either too expensive for tiny little amount or decent amount but watered down or not Asian style cooking, just grease trap.

All this does not apply to Happy Chef. The lovely asian couple are warm & welcoming making customer feel great! Tasty food with gut bloating amount for a decent price

I thoroughly enjoy going to Happy Chef, I particularly like the Mushroom and Vegetable hotpot with egg noodles and the Duck stir fry. The inside is not so flash, fluorescent lights and magazines, but the food definitely makes up for everything. Good for cheap dinner. Definately good value for money!

best chinese in newtown, such a large variety of dishes for great prices. always busy and even the graffiti in the toilet says how great this place is :) my favourite is chicken and cashews
