I recently purchased a rug (on sale) from Harvey Norman, at Gordon. Yes, as usual with department stores, there were not enough staff, but when I was served, the sales assistant, Ashley, was helpful and friendly.

Approximate cost: $599

Very bloody funny to hear Mr Gerry Harvey whinge and carry on about the demise of the retailer and the unfairness of internet trading. Gerry, it's not about price so much as CUSTOMER SERVICE. Or the general lack there-of. I went to HN Gordon to TRY to buy a new TV. I tried, God help me I did. Spent about 20 minutes being completely ignored by the the "sales"people who were busy doing heavens knows what. In this time I measured up and checked the specs of the various models on display so obviously not tyre-kicking. In the end I gave up and went to The Good Guys at Artarmon where a very helpful chap by the name of Peter sold me a more expensive TV than the one I was considering at HN. So much for price, Gerry. Once again, just in case you missed the point: CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Approximate cost: $Didn't buy; went elsewhere

Things are going to be over priced, computers, accessories, peripherals, you name it they're expensive.

What makes me really annoyed and avoid this shop is that the workers here are push overs, what I mean by that is, they are walking around to put a simple number/sticker on the product you've picked up so that they get the commission or hit their monthly target, when I didn't get any help from them.

I've had times when I told them 'it's ok I know what I'm getting' the dude, just tells me 'let me have a look at that' and snatches the printer ink off me, puts his commission number. RUDE and way OVER HIS LINE.

I've had no choice but to shop from here, occasionally to grab my 'brother' brand ink, since not all retailers stock them. (and I'd only use these guys in emergency) However now we've got a hp and a cannon, we won't be shopping here EVER AGAIN

They have a huge range of furniture and electronics, it is great when we have kitchen emergencies especially. Once the stove starting sparking and we quickly went here to buy one- they were great and in a day it was installed!! They also have a lot of clearances for bed linen, mats and assorted electronics.

I purchased a laptop from Harvey Norman and found the person who helped me extremely helpful and went beyond the call of duty. The laptop was an I5 for $799 and the guy helped to explain the differences between the processor types, RAM and more. I'm not really clued up on computers, so this person's help was valuable in making my purchase. The price was really good too. I am happy to buy from Harvey Norman again.

Approximate cost: $799

Harvey Norman Gordon has a good range but when we were "sold" a deal later we discovered that we did not receive what we recall that we were promised. We have been upset by our experiences with Harvey Norman.
