I was lucky enough to work around the corner from HOH & B on Bourke Street over the past year and I have been so happy with their service and this wonderful moment of self care I had on my trips to Melbourne. Not only did they always ensure I walked out being super happy with my hair, the team would spoil me with tea & cookies and sparkling wine as well as smiles and great conversation! Thank you so much - I'll miss you guys! (I have long blond hair and always got foils in two colours and a cut and blow dry -loved it!)

For a beautiful cut, treatment and blow dry, Lee is the best in Melbourne. With the international experience and superb skills, he's not cheap, but the best never is. And he will always quote beforehand.
My split ends are gone and my hair has that gorgeous shiny, heavy feel. A high quality experience and result.

I thought I had done my research well when I went to this salon, I did not do it well enough. I had an appointment to have blonde highlights done. The bleach was applied to my hair and I was forgotten about. When the hairdresser washed my hair and sat me in front of the mirror, I was horrified. My hair was white and breaking off in clumps! They didn't charge me for the appointment and went to their best efforts to attempt to rectify the problem. My colour now is ok but my hair is damaged beyond repair. I will never be back and I would recommend anyone that has an appointment with this salon, to reconsider!

I have been to this salon twice before. The first time was over a year ago so I'm not going to review that, but I went again a few months ago because I've had good experiences with other Heading Out salons. I wanted a straight bob with a straight fringe, which was fine - I got that. But my hair is very thick and I have a lot of it, so the hairdresser and I discussed that he would thin it and take a lot of the weight out of the back of it. Great, hairdressers always do this for me and I appreciate it.

I basically got an undercut. It was a bob with a fringe, but he had cut the under side of my hair SO short that it looked shaved. It's the kind of haircut I would have done myself when I was 15, to piss of my parents and teachers. It's hard to look professional with this kind of hair cut, and it is growing out so awkwardly that I basically have to wear my hair pulled back into a bun on top, with this weird patch of hair from about halfway down the back of my head. If I had realised what he was doing while he was doing it, and not thinning or 'taking the weight out' as we had discussed, I would have said something. But it was too late once I realised. If I had known that 'taking the weight out' meant cutting the hair to a few mm (with scissors), I would have high tailed it out of there. I could have done this myself with my fiance's razor, and it wouldn't have cost me $100 or whatever it was.

Extremely disappointing. I'm also sick of having to explain to people that no, my haircut isn't a drunken mistake, and yes, I did pay for it.

Hi, can I ask where you ended up going? I also have super thick hair and want a cut similar to the one your tried to get from Heading Out CBD. Have you found a good hairdresser in the city who can handle your thick hair? Many thanks

I wish I could give you a good answer! I haven't found a good one unfortunately - I still don't even have a salon that I go to regularly, I just try random ones and hope for the best. Sorry that's not very helpful, but good luck!

I had hair extensions put in which I loved. I returned a few weeks later to have them adjusted and came out with completely different hair! They were put back in incorrectly and as a result the stylist cut them to try to make my hair look decent. It didn't help as my extensions were ruined. I went back to try to have the problem rectified but to no avail - they couldn't get me out of the salon fast enough! I have now had to go to another salon and pay another $450 to replace the extensions they ruined. They were incredibly rude and didn't try to help me. All they care about is taking your money - they don't care at all if you are happy.

The staff really care about their customers. They asked me a lot of questions about what i wanted and made sure they understood. I have long hair and like many people with long locks i am always afraid they will chop too much off!! (still growing mine). But, of course we all need to trim the split ends from time to time. So glad i trusted them - i was very happy with the result. I had half head foils and cut and blow dry. I have a side sweep fringe with a cows lick and a side part so it's a bit awkward for most hairdresses im told but they did a great job! Price was what you can expect for experienced and caring staff. It's worth it!

I disagree with teresa lady!!! What do u expect hairdressers to cut your hair for free!!! They always quote before you start the service! When you go to Headingout you get the full service coffee with biscuit and if you want a cheap cut go to just cuts!! Why people like you have to exist! If it was just an inch off your fringe and you didn't think it was worth it cut it yourself! Everytime I've been there they always look after me and make sure I'm happy!

my experience at this salon was amazing, they really look after you and make sure you leave happy, they always give there honest opinion. The owner Maria is a fantastic hairdresser! The receptionist always ask if you are happy so I find it very hard to believe the experience the other reviews! Speak up and let the salon know if that is true because in my time there they always look after me. Maybe try another hairdresser in the salon. Maybe you and the hairdresser didn't communicate well, it happens, Maria, billie and tarnee are great try them! They are worth every penny

No way - rude arrogant people

I paid a hefty amount there for a cut and blow wave and as per usual process went back 4 weeks later for a fringe trim and was stung an additinal $20 to take less than an inch of my fringe - JOKE - I advised that the receptionist over the phone when bookin g or at teh very least the hairdresser themselves should have informed me that they would charge as they never used to... as a result - very rude and arrogant! Never RETURN

I have read the rave reviews about the salon here and decided to give it a shot. It all started out just great, and I was satisfied with the haircut until the morning after, when I washed my hair. After it dried out it came out as uneven mess; and the hair has cut way too short to my liking so I can't even go in and ask them to fix it.
Never, ever would go near that place again.
