Very Very very very poor service. Got advised that the doctor was heading to see us and it's a matter of driving (bear in mind it's the next suburb so it's supposed to only take 10 mins). No sign of doctor after 1 hour, got told different versions of stories. A supervisor spoke to us, didn't feel she wanted to help at all and all she did was reading some disclaimer. very upset kid, and got worse from us keeping him awake waiting for this Doctor. P.S. I told the customer service to cancel my booking and it's still not cancelled!! It's supposed to be a caring service but we felt the opposite. P.S. we are based in Sydney.

The doctor never come or call me, sucks. My daughter had red rush during the day and the amount is growing so I called the13 sick. Ok the staff is polite but there is no doctor coming and my daughter fell asleep. This is just waste of my time.

Because we are located outside the Brisbane metropolitan area and they have boundaries of suburbs to which they will go (why not have one place where local people can go), a large proportion of people on the Sunshine Coast hinterland remain unserviced by this Home Doctor Service. We used to have their services when we lived in Brisbane and they were excellent but move out of town and then you will see the difference. Imagine how many people are now left without reasonable medical care after hours. If you want to do the job, do the whole job, not just the major postcodes.

Called 137425 and had a doctor come to my home bulk billed. Doctor arrived within 1 hour and gave me some medicine at no cost?

The doctors start visiting from 6pm week nights, 12 pm Saturday and all day Sunday and public holidays.

Approximate cost: $Bulk bill

This is a great service for when the kids get sick out of hours or when you can't get an appointment with your regular GP. We have been members for many years now & will never let our membership lapse.
The service costs less than $100 for a family membership & doctors will do house calls to your home from 6pm - 8am on Monday to Fridays and Noon on Saturdays through to 8am on Mondays.
The doctors all bulk bill & send full notes of their visit to your regular GP so your medical records remain up to date.

this place is perfect , you ring 13sick and give the telephonist the details and they send a doctor to you door sometimes it takes time but the doctors are very efficient and if you need a hospital they call and ambulance , it works cheaper if you pay a membership and it works out far cheaper so give them a go

Approximate cost: $25

I had read the reviews about this service on WOMO, so decided to try when my 19 year old son became really ill on Sunday morning.

The receptionist who answered the phone was very polite and efficient and informed me of cost involved with this visit. For only $42 annual subscription, my family of 4 will be able to be bulkbilled for 12 months for any visits made to our home. FANTASTIC value. I think if you have a healthcare card this subscription is free.

I was told that the doctor could be up to 11/2 hours. but when half an hour the doctor rang to say he was 25 minutes away.

The doctor who arrived was lovely, and put my son at ease instantly. He was able to write a script, issue a medical certificate for absenteeism and only required a medicare card to bulkbilling.

Cannot speak highly enough about this service!!

I needed this service recently as there was nothing else open or had available appointments. A small annual membership fee (for the family) later and my appointment was booked by a very helpful telephone operator. (Money-wise, it is more economical to pay for an annual membership than a once-off visit as the price then becomes quite high.) I was warned that the doctors might take a while to get there but that they would give me a call when they were on their way. I had the doctor there within an hour and he was easy to work with. Highly recommended.

There are times when you simply can't leave the house to visit your regular doctor; for instance, late at night, when your usual surgery is closed (nights/weekends/holidays), when you have a child with a temperature or vomiting/diarrhoea, when you're sick and you have children at home, etc. So when you need a house call, Family Care Medical Services sends a doctor to your home. As long as your usual medical centre is closed (or about to close), you can book a home visit.

Pros - Visits are bulk billed (see below); convenience; cheap subscription fees (see below); a letter is sent to your regular doctor after a visit.

Cons - Sometimes you have to wait up to 4 hours as they send doctors out in order of patient condition priority, not order of call, but that's ok.

Patients of subscribing General Practices that are concession card holders (i.e. pension, health care card, DVA gold card), a child under 16 years or a Family Care Friendly Society member or a nursing home resident will be bulk billed.

Subscription for a family costs around $54 (from memory) per year. Free for Health Care card holders.

Approximate cost: $54

Agree that this service is FANTASTIC. I couldn't live without them. It's such a small annual fee but gives you peace of mind as a parent that you can get professional care for your kids at home when needed.
