When in Victor Harbor recently we had dinner here. Our family came down for the day and so 6 of us ordered a variety of meals from the pleasant menu. My salt and pepper squid was the nicest that I have had for some time. My grandson's steak was huge and tender, sausages and mash for my granddaughter and I can not remember the other choices. A salad bar with warm bread rolls was available. Another enjoyable meal.

We had family visiting so we went for another drive into Victor Harbor, our family wanted to have lunch here, my wife and I were not so keen as previous experiences were rather disappointing. Well, we gave them another try, and as expected were once again disappointed. The schnitzels were tough, chips soggy, salad limp. My steak was overdone, staff seemed disinterested and service was extremely slow - it was not busy! With so many great places to enjoy a meal in Victor, I would suggest you try elsewhere.

That sounds awful. I hate it when the group insists on eating somewhere you know to be poor quality.

Not my favourite spot in Victor either

With working in Victor Harbor at the moment, I have had lunch with work colleagues here a few times now. I wasn't really happy the first time we went here but decided to try again. We all decided that was our last time as our steaks were not fabulous, either overcooked or undercooked and the fish didn't taste like fish as there was to much batter.

Service was good, food average.

Another night we had dinner at the Hotel Crown. It has a nice bistro area with nice tables and chairs. Chose the chicken schnitzel with the creamy garlic sauce. Pleasant but not marvelleous. Nice salad bar though.

Have had a couple of meals here with work colleagues recently as I am currently working in the area and have found the food to be about average, nothing special.

The last time I went here with my family we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. Our meals looked great, they just didn't taste fresh. My husbands steak had a lot fat on it and was quite chewy, the schnitzels were quite dry, fortunately we had gravy with them to help. But not good. However, I did enjoy my salad.

The dining area is very nice with seating outside. I was hoping the food might have improved since we were last there, but after reading the previous review, I guess not. Might return if I see some good reviews. It was very disappointing.

We went here for tea. There was 3 of us and we all ordered something different. The Barramundi - It was slimy and frozen not fresh fish. The Salt & Pepper Squid was good with good flavour. Veal Rump Steak was ordered medium rare but came out well done and was extremely tough and inedible. This came out on 2 huge potatoes which were soggy. The salad bar was good and had a good range of salad and vegetables, bread also available.

The venue was quite nice with big windows looking on to a patio with a water fountain and ponds.

We did let the waiting staff know that the veal was over cooked on the way out and they apologised and said they would let the chef know.

Overall it was disappointing and we won't be back.

Approximate cost: $20.00

I have to agree with you, we had a lunch here about 6 months ago (had been a few times) and it will probably be our last. The quality of the food was very disappointing.

With 4 dining areas including 1 outside under umbrellas, it not hard to choose to go to the Hotel Crown for a meal. In 2 of the areas, there is a veg and salad bar which are topped up regulary and offer a great choice. Their prices are very reasonable and for 10% discount on food and drinks you just join up with the hotel. They have daily special also.

Had lunch here the other day with a group of 6 friends. We saw the $13.90 pork roast special advertised, and all agreed it sounded good. So, we all had the same. All of us were happy with our meals, good portion sizes (we had a couple of country farmers with good appetites with us) and the salad and veg bar were nice; fresh and a good selection.
The cafe area is located at the southern side of the pub, pleasant indoor seats and tables, with nice big windows overlooking the park, toward the jetty to Granite Island. Also a nice outdoor alfresco area.
Pleasant atmosphere, friendly efficient staff, and a reasonably priced menu e.g. $14.90 for schnitzels, burgers from $12.90 to $15.90, etc.
