Paid the full amount and was unable to cancel even though it was only a few hours after the contract was signed. Called and spoke to the operator and she said they have a no cancellation policy which doesn't even say at the back of the customer agreeement. What kind of policy is not clear and not put onto the customer agreement!!!! Will not recommend anyone to be using this service!!!.

Hi Lilian I only put down a $20 deposit on the day and had the contract cancelled before the first official payment was to come out. I have not received the $20 deposit back though.

Hi,

I need some advice and help please. We were at a shopping center and got roped into doing a photo shoot. Went to view the pics, i wasn't too impressed but my husband always wanted to have the kids photos taken professionally therefore agreed to take the full package $900.

We took the payment plan. On the second payment i got a call telling me that they would like to send the photos out but we need to organise some sort of terms. I said please speak to my husband which they did. So they differed our payment to some credit company and sent the photos.

1) the photo booked received were of low quality and poor finish

2) photo editing was so poor the shadows and contrast we so obvious

3) the glass print was also so poor quality

I called them and stated that i was disappointed with the quality and the receptionist didn't want to hear what i had to say and asked me to email. I did send a polite email and didn't hear back, not even an acknowledgement. So i emailed back again and was told that they are looking into the matter.

I had a bad feeling about this company as soon as i got the call and stated they wanted to send the photos. Now reading this site confirms it all.

Can someone please advise and guidance what i should do from here on please. I know they will not revert back to me and the longer i have the product they will have all sorts of excuse not to reimburse me or to replace the products.

PLEASE HELP..

Approximate cost: $900

Hi there, I just came across your review of ITP. I used to work for them. As a rule of thumb the studios have to: Talk to everyone with kids walking past (basically badgering them into a photoshoot) take no longer than 20 minutes on a shoot (so we can get more shoots in and more potential sales for them) make sure we have at least 2x background changes, hideous props in each shot and at least 2 X clothing changes. We are not allowed to talk about prices if asked (!??) I stuck it out for 4 months then left. I couldn't work for such a money hungry company that ripped people off and took advantage of vulnerable mothers. They don't put the customers first and unfortunately you will just have to use this as a lesson learnt. You won't get your money back or anything back from them. I do my own photography and always put the kids/clients first. Charging $75 per photo is ludacris, my packages range from $50 -$350 and that includes the photoshoot, all photos on a USB (usually around 50) and all post editing. I like to focus on bringing out kids/people's individual personalities and having some fun outdoors rather than dressing them in boring outfits, throwing tacky props in and rushing them for a forced smile. Stay away from these companies that travel around and are based in malls, there are a few about and I guarantee they are all the same ! Sorry you have had such a bad experience :(

WOW where to begin with this company!!
My kids did their photo shoot i went back to collect my free photo and did a impulsive buy and signed the contract, my husband was fuming so i called them the next day which was a Friday to cancel the contract and was told will not be till the following week so i called on the Tuesday telling them i want to cancel my contract, was told they would call me either Wednesday or Thursday no call came through till today.
The team leader said she tried to call yesterday no call was made to me.
She was told by her colleagues that i wanted to cancel my contract straight away she said NO I cannot cancel how ever can lessen my payments and defer for a month, I said i will get my bank to stop payments she then said it will go to debt collectors,
I then told her my situation I should not have signed the contract without confirming with my husband and that we are financially unable to pay the amount. I pleaded to her saying this money is coming out of my childrens mouth she still did not care and said I will still have to pay.
The way she spoke was aggressive so i started to speak the same way back.
I said everything i had written at the beginning of my story and did not budge..
SO... I called fair trading!!
Not know where and what I can do to get out of paying for this.
I explained my situation to them he said call them back and see if they will allow cancellation before making a complaint, so i did and she refused.
I ended up making a complaint and told the lady from Imagine That Photography I had made a complaint against her she says that is OK we deal with them a lot.!!!
I then called fair trading back explaining my situation again and said i just made a complaint.
Customer representative said to me is the contract binding I said yes on the form i signed it did say it is a binding agreement between them and me
She then said where was this taken place
I said at a mall, "she said I then have a 10 day cooling of period as it is a unsolicited agreement meaning this was done out side of the companies premises by law we have this right.
I was on the phone with this lady and she told me to email the company as proof of evidence i cancelled before my 10 days cooling off period due tomorrow. Below is what I sent them

I am writing to address to your attention that I wish to cancel the contract that i entered into on the 21.04.16,
I have also previously called on 3 occasions to address to your attention to cancel the agreement.

I am aware that under the Australian consumer Law the agreement we entered into is considered to be a unsolicited consumer agreement.
As you approached me our negotiations were taken place at a location other then your business premises and the contract value is more then $100
By law i have a 10 day cooling of period.

I sent that to the Team leader at Imagine that and now i await her reply.

In all i felt defenseless and kind of scared for the future of having a bad name

@courtney-cook554 - how did you go with your cancellation? I got suckered into this also with the pressure from the sales staff, even tho I said on multiple occasions I couldnt afford anything. I only purchased the USB ($550) but am going to try and cancel that order on Monday (purchase was made at 5pm on Friday and no one available to talk to over the w/e). Also, does anyone know if its illegal to cover up the refund/cancellation policy info? I think the info was on the table but the photos placed over this so I didnt see what it actually said. Feeling sick to my stomach atm about it all.. wish I had seen all these reviews before going back to view the photos...

@mistyt716 - how did you go with your complaint to Fair Trading also? Did you manage to cancel? Ill be contacting Fair Trading on Monday also to see where I stand (Im in WA). Hopefully the 10day cooling off period is accurate and allows for consumers to cancel before this time is up..

Only gave 1 star as unable to give none or minus.

Beware of this company. They were extremely deceitful in their dealings with me. Promised to downgrade my package, after the salesperson misrepresented the available packages, and then did not honour this. Have $200 of my money and I have none of their product except the free photo and key rings and a magnet I paid for when photo's were taken. Their "customer service" is a joke, and they did not return calls when they said the would. Beware. Avoid them, and go to a professional who will take the time and is ethical in their dealings. These people have no problem with causing financial hardship to their customers, though they claim to have a "customers first" policy; customers fleeced would be more accurate.

I went back 10 minutes after I had been signed up after going into the store directly opposite their stand. Came out, went up to them explained I couldn't afford the package and did not want to get bad credit rating. They could see I had not been anywhere else or had a chance to copy pictures. Told them there were only 9 photo's I really liked (they had taken photos of my 12 yo son in long sleeved shirt and shorts!). Was told I could change my order and buy only the 9 photo's, but had to pay $675 IMMEDIATELY.

I asked to ring their head office. When I explained to the girl that they had offered me 9 photos for $675 but wanted me to pay straight away, she said I could get a package for only $590 (USB stick with all images + any 10 photos) was all ready to do this, but when she learned I had already signed up for a $2300 package (after being mislead about package options) she said I could not get out of the contract.

After much discussion finally said I could be downgraded to a $990 package which I could pay of in payments to suit me. I left all the photos with them, except the free one, and the key rings and magnet I paid for. I rang them again and asked if they could speak to their director and see if he would let me get the $590 pack instead, as I should have been offered this as I had asked the girl to tell me about all the packages that were available. I was told by the representative, she would try and organise this, and would ring me on Tuesday when she had my paperwork.

No call came. I rang late Tues afternoon, and was told the person would email the representative and get her to ring me first thing the next morning (Wed). Again, no call. I rang them and was told she was on the phone and would call me back "as soon as she was finished the call". Three hours later, still no call. When I called again, I was told she was at lunch, but assured she would call me back again. Of course this did not happen and I had to ring them yet again. Eventually, I was told she was not at work and that someone else would call me back.

No call. When I tried to ring again I got an answering machine. Suspicious that they were ignoring my call, I turned off the number send on my phone and rang again. This time they answered. I told them I was really upset with the runaround and was put through to a director. She told me the representative had spoken to her, and she had approached the director about my having the $590 package, but he had refused even though I had explained it would cause me financial hardship even to pay $990. She said I could pay off the package in installments to suit me, and would email me the details (last Wednesday 9/12/15).

This still has not happened. They have $200 of my money and I have none of their product except as previously mentioned. The first installment was due to come out of my debit card yesterday for the more expensive package. Unfortunately, I lost my debit card last week at the shops and had to cancel it. They threatened to sue me if I did not buy the $990 package and then never gave me the opportunity to accept it or change the contract before the payment for the more expensive package was due to come out. Extremely deceitful and unethical in my opinion. Do take the advice of the many hurt customers here and STEER WELL CLEAR OF THESE PEOPLE. They don't care if they put one in hardship, as long as they make a profit.

Approximate cost: $2300

Sonia-r it was MelissaB that went through Fair Trading NSW and was successful in getting her contract cancelled. If you are in that state, perhaps lodge and application and see how you go. I am in Qld and Fair Trading were unable to help. I have since lodge a consumer dispute against Imagine That with the Queensland Civil Administrative Tribunal and am awaiting the hearing. I will update on the outcome here.

Went for the shoot in nearest mall during normal shopping trip. Photos were not great in terms of professional photo shoot. Received free Magnet for the wait before the shoot Ordered $50 package for 2 Key rings, 2 Magnets and 1 mobile cover.

Problem: All products I received have same image on them like you put three magnets with same image on your fridge.

Called them and they say can't do anything!!!

Their packages are hell expensive, $75 a copy oh my god. Never ever take their service instead spend the same money with other personal photographer.

Where do I start?
Customers beware!!! This company are only after your money.
My daughter was approached by sales reps in kippa ring shopping centre and coaxed into a photo shoot with the ever so famous offer of a free print.
As a new mother an offer like this was hard to turn down, (a professional print of her gorgeous daughter) what could possibly go wrong???
First and foremost everyone if you are approached by a company in a mall, know your rights.
To cut a long story short, my daughter went back to pick up the free print. Before she even got to look at the free print she was presented with packages and in my opinion pressured into signing up for a package costing $2990.
A couple of days later her circumstances changed and she realised she will no longer be able to afford this package and rang Imagine That photography to cancel the agreement.
She was told that there is a NO CANCELLATION POLICY and that she was BINDED BY THE AGREEMENT TO PAY THE AMOUNT IN FULL. Bearing in mind it's only been a couple of days since she signed the actual agreement!!. I was absolutely livid when she told me they wouldn't cancel the agreement. I looked at the agreement and what a joke!! No mention of any cooling off period like the law clearly states that needs to be on there. No mention of any cancellation policy.
Put it this way people, they are NOT budging with allowing her to cancel the agreement. My daughter is excellent with finance and budgeting and to be told she has no way of getting out of this agreement despite explaining her change of circumstances is unjust, unfair and unlawful.
She now has no other option but to go through ACCC and Office of Fair Trading, lodging complaints here, there and everywhere, obtaining legal advice to cancel an agreement that doesn't even abide by the laws???
This company is Not FOR FAMILIES.
I hope EVERYONE READS THIS AND STAYS AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE.
So far all the reviews I've read on here are all bad. Not one has anything good really to say about anything.

Approximate cost: $2990

Maybe we should lodge a joint complaint with ACCC and ASIC for unethical dealing with customers. If you're interested let me know and I'll give you my email address.

Oh imagine that photography, the least yous could do to all these poor people is customise your b$@":)(t apologies and responses. Each case here was unique and bottom line is, you are such a heartless company, feeding off new Mums and their excitement from their beautiful babies.

Just so everyone knows, my daughter ended up going to a lawyer, she sent them all her paperwork and emails, who then put together a formal letter to ask contract to be terminated before legal action will commence.

Took a while but lawyer called my daughter back to advise that because she tried to cancel within the cooling off period that she was within her rights.

She recommends putting everything in writing.

Good luck to everyone here. I'm seriously thinking of going to "a current affair" about this.

My daughter and I were shopping and asked by this company if we would like a free photo sitting.
All went quite well and were told to come back the next week to view the photographs.
The woman doing the pitch was nice ,however she would not allow my daughter to explain what she actually wanted.
She and even I tried to get a word in edgewise to no avail.
She did her pitch and Sienna wanted to choose her own photo's as some were dire to be honest .She didn't want the whole "everything" package but just the USB so I myself could improve the photographs ,some selected photographs she wanted instead of all of them .She wanted one large metal piece and two medium sized ones ,she wanted the book but did not want the perspex frames nor the box .Which still would have been over the two k mark ,but she would not listen ,I took the baby so Sienna could try talk to this woman .But she signed over her bank details to have payments of 174 per fortnight taken out of her pay .
She called them and tried to explain what had happened and what she wanted and was told it wasn't in their policy to change what was ordered .
My question is why the hell not?
My daughter now has to shell out over 4 thousand dollars because its not in their policy to not give a consumer what they desire in a photographic package?
Nowhere in their paperwork does it state that they cannot or do not change a customers requirements
Maybe a formal complaint to fair trading with a copy of the contract will be in order

Approximate cost: $4570

They offered to change my contract, but then did not honour. Seriously, if anyone here is willing I think we should report them to ASIC for being unethical/scamming people. I too tried to get info on cheaper packages but was mislead by salesperson. The notice about their refund policy was conveniently covered up by the photos when I first viewed them, and did not see the notice, it was not pointed out, or explained to me before purchase. It is despicable the way this company operates. And someone should stop them from hurting people, who cant' afford it.

lilianf344 05 Aug 2016

I'm still paying the 4590 off as I was told that they can't cancel it and can't refunded the money.

I had a really bad experience with this company and have had to now buy new clothes for bub (who's gone up a size) and re-book with another more professional photographer. This company ropes you in with the free photo shoot and the promise of one free 5x7 photo of your child and gives you their own choice of a very ordinary photo. Other bad points to consider:
* I had to wait over half an hour with my baby for my appointment I booked a week prior and no apology was given
* Bub was now irritable from waiting and so was I as there's no seat nearby
* They are not upfront with the pricing structure when you have your session
* They don't let you purchase any 5x7 photo's which I wanted for my photo album at home
* Minimum package to purchase is $599 - which clients should be informed of before their photo session
* They won't photoshop any problems with photo's - all my photo's had something wrong with them.
* They mentioned I could photoshop myself if I purchased the USB package which is near to $1000 but I only wanted 1 portrait photo to begin with. And the lady mentioned at the shopping centre I would get one for free so was happy to purchase 1 other.
* You can ONLY purchase 10x8 size individual photos for $75 each which I was not told of initially
* I short-listed two 10x8 photo's and got hubby to go pick one of them up after work. The lady ensured me she would only show him the two I short-listed. Hubby said she showed him all of them tried upsell him a package.
* Then talked him into getting 3 others photo's that are not suitable portraits for my and grandma's wall at home.
* Ended up wasting hundreds $$ of dollars on 3 x 10x8's photo's and rang them immediately when he got home to tell them hubby got the wrong photo's, but they said there's no exchange and I would have to pay another $75 if I wanted anymore.
* Mentioned to them it was their fault for not showing hubby the two photo's I short-listed earlier but they didn't care.
Beware of this company. NEVER AGAIN!

I wouldn't even give them 1 star

After reading previous reviews I had low expectations after attending a free photo shoot with Imagine That. My free photo was a horrible image of my little girl and when I complained to the sales staff I was told the images are randomly selected by their computer program. I had pre purchased a magnet set to send to family and the image used in the magnet was also not great! I was pleasantly surprised when the rest of the images were shown to me and they had captured 4 beautiful photos. As per previous reviews individual photos cost $75 for the print. If you want a USB copy the minimum cost is $999 and includes all the images on USB, a large frame, and a large canvas or print. It is expensive but I guess all professional photography is. In the end I was happy with what had been produced.

lynton-grayson699 19 Nov 2015

They are such a dodgy company. Consultant signed us up for $4500 without disclosing total cost. Tried to cancel two hours later after I got home from work and got told to find back on the Tuesday did that and got told crap that you can't cancel it blah blah blah. I said what about the cooling off period got told you had it when you viewed the photos. Do not trust this dodgy company

traciec 18 Dec 2015

They told me the cooling of period started when I initially signed the agreement to have the children photographed. Definitely should get together and complain to ASIC. Companies should not be able to scam people like this.

This company ropes you in with the free photo shoot and the promise of one free 5x7 photo of your child.
My friend and I did it with our little ones one day just for a bit of fun as they were set up at our local shopping centre.
The session seemed pretty rushed, the photo shoot only taking about 20-25 mins. They tell you that they don't know what the prices of packages are and you will find out at the viewing.
Upon going to the viewing session, the sales ladies are gushing and seemingly lovely, laying all of your printed photos out in front of you. I noticed quickly that my free one (which by the way you do not get to choose) was one of the crappiest photos, taken at a poor angle and not the best photo of my daughter ( who actually takes great photos !). I assume this is so that you have to purchase a photo if you want a good one.
Of the 15 or so images that they took, only TWO of them were any good !
The photos are $75 each for the hard copy and packages range from about $600 (which does not include the photos that you choose on a usb/disc) and go up to nearly $4000, which of course they market at being 'only $75 a week !'
When I told the lady that I honestly thought that only 2 of the photos were any good and that I wouldn't be purchasing them or considering a package , she went from helpful and nice to not even speaking and scooping all of my photos up, before asking me if I was 'happy for them to be shredded then?'
I said that was fine and she abruptly handed me my free photo (which I could've taken better myself) and turned around. Haha
My friend then had the same experience, terrible free photo, and only 3 photos that she thought were any good of her son.
I've since taken my baby girl to a studio and had photos taken of her as well as a family photo with my husband and was blown away by how amazing every single photo came out ! I actually cried when they showed us a slide show of them all (quite possibly post baby hormones haha). So I would highly recommend that if people want to spend their money on photos of their little ones going to someone who will spend a good amount of time working on getting photos that you will be happy with :)

Approximate cost: $1000
