I had a takeaway pre-made sushi roll for $3 and it was pretty good. They have quite a wide array of filling including salmon sashimi and avocado (the one I had), battered prawn, tuna, and many others. Certainly good value for a sushi of that size and quality (4 to 4.5 inches).

The only negative is that we had to wait quite a long time in the queue despite wanting only a premade sushi that is already in the display case. That is a workflow issue which they need to sort out if they want to be more profitable. The gift who was serving us also had cash register duties and other duties. I could see they were a little under the pump.

IS Donburi serve fresh, delicious, high quality Japanese food.

They have a range of fresh sushi rolls, including Hosomaki (hand rolls) for around $3 or $4. These are super fresh, great for a takeaway snack or light meal.

The Donburi, Udon noodle soups & Yaki Udon servings are all huge. Recently I had the Chicken Katsu Udon noodle soup ($12.50), as a takeaway it comes with the soup liquid separately packaged so that the other ingredients don't go soggy while you travel. The chicken was crispy & delicious, the soup was flavoursome and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Healthy comfort food on a rainy day.

Today I tried the pork Gyoza starter ($7) and a miso soup ($1.50). The miso soup was great, as expected. Then I got into the Gyoza. Wow, amazing! Firstly, there were SIX pork dumplings, unlike a Japanese restaurant across the tracks that serves three for the same price. Secondly, these were pan-fried as opposed to straight-up boiled. Served on a generous bed of green salad leaves, with Japanese mayo & a teriyaki reduction. The crispy dumpling was super delicious, the filling was fresh and tasty, totally amazing.

This tiny modern-Japanese eatery is truly awesome and highly recommended.
