Lines on the weekends are atrocious, but during the week it's pleasant. Can get extremely noisy (esp if there's live music there), but on wed nights from 6-7pm, there's free martinis. For the rest of the night, they're $10 each - awesome deal, considering they're not too weak. Lots of business people during the weekdays.
The Ivy Bar is a wonderfully different addition to the Sydney bar scene. With a delightfully kitsch meets French decor and an open air central courtyard, this is like nothing else in Sydney. Busy when I've visited on a Friday night, it's a great retreat during weekday lunchtimes. The food menu is good, but is on the pricey side of bar food. A great wine list!
ha ha, what's different about it? It's still full of sunburnt, flabby men in t-shirts and poorly fitting trousers. And girls with orange skin, showing too much of it in cheap party frocks. It's just Sydney, but the pretentious version. I choke whenever I read that this place is supposed to be 'sophisticated'. Ha ha.
