I contacted Jim's without (foolishly) checking the online reviews to look at our intermittently working split system. Made a booking and paid the $140 for the guy to arrive late (outside the 3 hour window) take a 2 minute look at the unit without even looking up the fault code unit then offering a $1000 service and repairs. As it was urgent I stupidly paid the money to then have a different guy turn up and "service" the unit the next day which consisted of him cleaning it over the course of one hour and leaving. the unit was operational when he left (which it was sporadically anyway) and by the next day had stopped working again. I called back to complain and was told a technician would arrive between 1 and 3pm. at 3:30pm I called and queried the whereabouts and was told I was next in line. I told them I has to leave for work and they asked me to give them a courtesy call half an hour before I departed (despite me staying home all day for them and not receiving any sort of communication). Tech turned up the following day and actually diagnosed the fault but was then given to three quotes, two to replace the unit (over $5000 and over $6000) and one to replace internal componentry $1600 (with no guarantee this would work). Have had quotes from actual reputable companies to repair for a quarter of the quoted price or replace for 1/3 of the price. Absolute scam artists, do not waste your time and your money on these charlatans !!!! I have contacted the ACCC and lodged a complaint.

Shocking, JIMs aircon came out to quote a service for my split System, they turned up on a Metropol van.

The tech arrived and I advised the main part of the system was located on the roof which has easy access via stairs. He didn’t even bother to go and look he just lifted up the front of the system and within one seconds advised that it was a faulty pump and it needed a service. He sent a quote to my email within seconds for $1300+ and then proceeded to tell me it probably wouldn’t fix the issue and the pump needed replacing. Not sure how he knew this. The quote cost $130 for this.

I didn’t accept the quote and had a local company come out who cleaned my system as it was slightly blocked and charged me $300, the pump did not need replacing.

Steer well clear of Jim’s, absolute cowboys.

I booked for two window air con to be serviced. Paid $170 for visit and told they would quote on the day and their aim is to complete all work on the same day. Person who came (late) said he was not a technician and quoted $1000 per unit to service and would have to book. He tried to persuade us to go ahead, said could last another 10 years but if needed parts would be extra. New units including installation cost less than this!

Never rely on Jim’s AC. They cancelled twice, and left me waiting for a 3hr period both times, with no courtesy call that no one was coming. So unprofessional. Unhelpful customer service with no apology.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My split system was tripping my safety switch so I called Jim's Air conditioning repairs. I had to pay a service fee of $132 up front non refundable. When the technician arrived he took a photo of my unit and then proceeded to look up information on my air conditioner. He then proceeded to tell me that it would cost over $1200 to have a diagnostic done and that if it couldn't be fixed that the $1200 would also be non refundable. I was stunned that he hadn't even inspected my appliance to see what might be wrong. Isn't that what a service call is. I sent an email to them asking for my money to be refunded as I didn't deem this to be a service call. They have not replied to my email. A total rip off.

I'd give a big ZERO to Jim's air conditioning service. Dont use them if you in Victoria especially! They give you a time frame and attend your house the last minute. The quoting guy came to my door last minute of the time frame and sit in the car talking on the phone. I had to go out and ask him to come in and give me a quote which done in 5mins. And that's not the worst, I booked the service and duct cleaning the next day they told me time frame between 2-5pm which made me spent all my afternoon sitting and waiting in the house for 5 hours until 7pm I had rang them several times and they promised me I'm the next in line. 5mins passed 7pm I rang again they told me the technician can't come. So 24/7 is just a lie. I was transferred to a customer service which I don't think the guy understands what customer service mean. Paid no interest in my situation and say to me he rather quickly refund me and finish the conversation. Yes a customer service representative said he rather finish the call asap to the customer while I only said truth with no impolite words at all. How he even got his job I wondered?! Never ever gonna use anything Jim's. The experience just ruined the brand. What a shame to such a big company. Their price is absolutely rip off as well! Watch out people
