A great restaurant for an introduction to Korean food. Well priced meals with decent serves. The restaurant can be crowded and rather noisy, it's not the place to go to if you want to have an intimate dinner. Lots of students and families so you know they offer good value. Good range of Japanese food too, their noori rolls, shashimi and tempura offer excellent value.

I think the food here is pretty good. I like the side dishes that come along with the main. The service is ok too. Overall I would recommend this restaurant

Had a terrific meal, excellent dishes and complimentary side dishes. Excellent service. teapot refilled regularly. Restaurant very clean and the atmosphere is nice but not too loud to converse easily.

A great place for an inexpensive and quick Korean meal. The food quality is quite good and represents value for money. Quality of service can fluctuate with the how busy the place gets. Overall definitely worth a try if you like (or would like to try) Korean food.

Quick and unplanned Friday dinners. Yes, it's a big challenge for everyone and particularly more so if you don't have a booking. If you like great value meals and have a palate for the clean, luscious, savory and spicy style of Korean food, then this is a pretty good place.
If you arrive before the crush (pre-6:30pm) you'll probably get fed pretty quickly and a single serve can probably feed two adults when paired with Kim Chi.
The tough part is finding parking on Koornang Rd, so I suggest parking at the nearby Safeway carpark.

I'd never had Korean before going here but now I'm a big fan. Food was outstanding, extremely tasty and big serves. Saturday night was totally packed but they managed to fit us without a booking.

Delicious food, definitely worth for a try. The fried rice cake dish has vegies and beef in it, unlike other Korean restaurants. Excellent Spicy BBQ pork. One of the best I've ever tried.

A very nice wide varieties of food to choose from. But is normally very crowded during weekends. Is a little more costly but the food is good. Service is a little slow.

The ambience may be a bit basic and the room rather dark but the food is consistently tasty and portions generous and it comes out fast! All main courses come with a selection of little dishes, which are usually nice. Korean food is generally very enjoyable, with the flavor of the marinated cabbage (kimchi) being a bit of an aquired taste. The service is efficient and pleasant.

There has been increasing no. of Korean restaurant being opened across Melbourne in recent years. Personally, I love Korean food and their Kimchi (preserved spicy cabbage). When I first tried out Korean restaurants in Melbourne, Kimchi Grandma at Carnegie has remained one of the best. It has set a standard for other to follow. Korean restaurant always provide small entree, free of charge (free for refill :D). It include kimchi and other preserved vegetables and marinated honey potatoes etc and it always come with six varieties. Some other Korean restaurant has decreased it to four variety which is quite disappointing. But after so many years, Kimchi Grandma at Carnegie still maintained that standard. Their main course is excellent and its never short of ingredients. Their spicy kimchi soup (soon doo boo), beef ribs hot plate (galbi), beef hot plate (beef bulgogi) and spicy pork hot plate have remained as my favorite for many years. Its best dined with their hot korean sake as well. Its like in heaven !!!
