This review is for AAZ Transport Services, Ormond VIC

verified email - 07 Mar 2016

First impressions of the owner/operator of the business was that he is professional, hard working and honest, however hiring AAZ Transport Services turned out to be a very expensive mistake. The Owner Operator is a slick salesman, as a removalist he must be the worst in Australia. After visiting my home SIX times he provided a quote and agreed on the date of removal. On the agreed date, he turned up 5 hours late to move an entire house full of furniture interstate. At 11pm that evening, he and his crew were still loading furniture into their truck whilst the people who had purchased my home were trying to move in. He arrived with the furniture two days later, in a different truck and surprised me with the news that his truck was too small to carry all my belongings so he had placed half of it in storage in Melbourne and it was up to me to arrange another carrier to transport the rest of my belongings at my cost. As we didn't have access to the storage facility and they effectively were holding our property for ransom, we were forced to pay his full invoice, despite the fact that he had only brought half to my new home and damaged several items. Another carrier was organised and we had another dreadful surprise when we discovered several things missing. Several phone calls to try to retrieve the missing items resulted in threats and the realisation, the missing items would never be located. Despite being given his word that our goods were insured and paying handsomely for this privilege, it was clear when items were damaged and others were "lost", this carrier does not have insurance. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this company.

This review is for Eastern Dumpling House, Carnegie VIC

verified email - 17 Mar 2014

This is a relatively new restaurant in busy Koornang Road Carnegie and it's definitely one worth trying. The dumplings are unbelievably good value. The pan fried steamed pork buns have a crispy base, moist pork that melts in your mouth and a delicious broth. Pan fried or steam chicken and prawn dumplings are also moist and have a delicate flavour giving an excellent balance between the chicken and prawn. They also offer stir fry dishes as well as a host of clay pot dishes. The shredded chilli pork, Chicken and Mushroom Claypot and the Salt and Pepper Calamari are highly recommended. There are also lots of vegan options. The serves are generous and the prices very reasonable, it's certainly worth a visit.

If you're looking for fresh seafood at reasonable prices then you can't go past The Seafood Emporium. The Owner and Chef, Andrew Wilson, opened his shop approximately 6 months ago, located in a small strip in Bentleigh, Andrew offers first class customer service and fresh fish. A Chef, Andrew will even give you cooking tips and for your party needs will prepare seafood platters at reasonable prices. If you're a lover of seafood and want fresh, not frozen seafood, The Seafood Emporium is a must.

Have ordered a couple of times and must say am impressed that food is always delivered on time. Unfortunately, the serves are very small and the food average. Ginger beef was described as "a stir fried dish with garlic, ginger, onion, capsicum, celery, snow peas, mushrooms and mild chilli sauce". Celery and snow peas were not included but onions and ginger were very prominent. Cheap beef cuts are used so beef very tough. Crispy skin chicken with crispy fried noodles was soggy (it may have been microwaved) and the 6 fried noodles were also soggy. The special salad that came with the crispy skin chicken consisted of 2 wafer thin slices of tomato, quartered, iceberg lettuce and carrot, nothing very special about that.

Ordered pizza for the first time and were so impressed they have become our new favourite. Forget it being loaded with loads of cheap oily tasting cheese and ham, fresh good quality ingredients are used in their pizza. Ordered arrive exactly on time and the pizza on a thin crusty base was hot and devine tasting. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND ORDER ANTONIO'S PIZZA

This review is for Guang Hua Chinese & Malaysian, Caulfield VIC

verified email - 01 Aug 2013

Excellent food and service and order was deliver on time. Their garlic prawns were devine, the prawns plump and fresh and expertly cooked. Mongolian beef was a fabulous surprise and they certainly don't skimp on the size of their serves. We were very impressed with their crispy skin chicken. Guang Hua were thoughtful enough to cut a hole in the lid of the container so that the chicken remained hot and didn't steam up. Little thing like placing the spicy salt for the crispy chicken in a separate container make this restaurant stand out from their competition. Best chicken satay skewers we've had for a very long time. A generous piece of chicken fillet threaded on to a skewer topped with delicious satay sauce. If you're thinking of ordering Asian, you can't go past Guang Hua.

This review is for Capri Blinds & Drapes, Dandenong VIC

It's unfortunate that the quality of the materials used in the manufacture of their roman and holland blinds isn't matched by their customer service.
Installation was included in the cost of the blinds, but their installer arrived 2 hours after his scheduled time and after installing 3 of the 4 blinds, left the brackets (no screws) stating they were easily installed by a handyman and left. A follow up call from the Manager the next business day was met with abuse when I explained that the installer didn't inspire confidence in the business by doing this. The holland blind wasn't levelled before being installed so one side hangs 2 cms lower than the other.
The quality of materials used is excellent, but given the appalling customer service you would be wise to steer clear of this firm. Concerns are that if you did have a problem there would be little chance of them returning to rectify. I had to pay a handyman to install the last roman blind and remove and reinstall the crooked holland blind. If you're able to install their product, they are worth considering. However, be warned as if you're not satisfied with the work, they may be difficult to deal with.

This review is for Europa Cafe, Carnegie VIC

verified email - 16 Jul 2012

If you are looking for a cake shop that bakes in the European style and bakes on the premises, Europa Cafe is it. Their cakes are works of art and their slices irresistible. Try the European donuts, soft and fluffy on the inside, the fresh jam oozing out and sugar icing on top. These donuts remind me of the ones you can purchase in the Jewish shopping havens of New York.
Europa also bake pies on the premises and if you're looking for a steaming bowl of soup for lunch during this cold spell, you can't go past Europa's pumpkin soup. A decent sized serving so save room for coffee and cake. They could improve on the service, it's hard to get a smile out of bearded man behind the counter, but the food is well worth it.

Approximate cost: $9 lunch $4 per slice, cakes are priced accordingly.

This review is for HD Cafe Bar And Grill Restaurant, Burwood East VIC

verified email - 16 Jul 2012

Located just off Burwood Highway, this small family run restaurant offers excellent service, scrumptious food and good value for money. The Owner/Chef, Hock, takes great care to present his meals in a way that highlights the fresh ingredients without overpowering dishes in commercially made sauces. His steaks are superb, ask for a rare and that is exactly what you get – Chefs in Melbourne take note, a rare steak is pink!
Try the Barramundi in Moroccan spices, the skin is crispy and the flesh of the fish moist and well cooked. Hock's pastas are also a delight. Carbonara is the yard stick for me and unfortunately, I have tasted too many that are drowning in a cream sauce overloaded with parmesan cheese. The Carbonara here is light and tasty, fresh parmesan adorns your meal and the pasta is cooked al dente. Before you leave you must try the coffee, Hock is also a talented barista and HD Café is open for breakfast so you can kick start your day with a decent coffee. The locals are definitely keeping HD Café Bar & Grille a secret and this is one restaurant you would travel to if you're not in the Burwood area.

This review is for CII Cafe Bar, Glen Huntly VIC

verified email - 05 Jul 2012

An excellent addition to Glen Huntly's restaurant choices. This Italian restaurant which also has a small Middle Eastern selection is brilliant. Just off the Glen Huntly Road strip and located almost next door to 7 Eleven, this restaurant offers fine dining at incredibly reasonable prices.
Their selection of Middle Eastern entrees are a must. All dips are made on the premises and offer fresh amazing tastes. The main meals are a generous serve and the food is well presented and superbly cooked.
Excellent for group bookings - it's one of the few places that we've been to lately that manages to serve the group's meals at the same time.
The service is excellent, staff well versed in the selection and will offer suggestions if you're not sure what to pick. A good wine list that is well priced by the glass or bottle.
