Laurent Bakery is so so good, I love dining here. It is nestled in or a corner in one of the Melbourne laneways and a great venue to have a rest whilst at the shops. This patisserie makes you feel like you are in France with the selection of delicious desserts and classic beverages. It does get busy here, but what you receive is worth the wait.
Recommend the chai lattes and also the coffee from here. It is super delicious. Service is always friendly and attentive
WOnderful, beautiful, classy cafe! ticked all my boxes. lovely selection of cakes and coffee!
Approximate cost: $11
Good coffee. I love that they have the option for a soup bowl size coffee.
Chai lattes are a winner here too. The baguettes look delicious but I haven't tried them yet! Gets busy!
agreed- love their coffee!
The food is delicious, fresh and filling. They are very expensive but it's expected. The service is always lovely too. Perfect for lunch, breakfast or a coffee and cake on the run
the hot cross buns are the absolute best, light and really good fruit
wow will have to try this one next time :) thanks for the recommendation
I liked the outside seating in the beautiful lane way. The bakery seems to have authentic features of a French bakery, including a snobbish French waitress. My favourite thing is the a a latte served in a large bowl into which you can dip a whole croissant.
agreed- loved the location and setting of this place!
This place is so nice, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is friendly and family friendly. There sandwiches are just great and good value for money. we go here at least once a week. Highly recommend this local shop.
Agreed- wonderful atmosphere!
This place is AMAZING! Not only is its location second to none right in the heart of the CBD, but the goods that it has on offer are unbelievably tasty. Cakes, breads, savouries, sandwiches... all of it is just so good!
They bake all their own breads (so they say), so the loaves and rolls etc are always very fresh.
Prices are a bit steep-ish but the service is quick and when the food tastes this awesome you can forgive paying a couple of bucks more. Seating is both inside and outside (though pretty limited on the outside). A great place to meet for lunch or a coffee and a snack.
Super delicious cakes from this bakery, absolutely loved their macaroons. We were served quite quickly which was nice.
yumm! love their cakes and macaroons!
I love cakes.. and Laurent bakery is one of favourite bakery shops! I love to have my afternoon tea with a accompany of a piece of cake or macaroon - very tasty!!
agreed- wonderful selection of cakes!
My favorite is the chicken baguette for lunch, I love that it has walnut that give's the baguette nice crunchy texture. I am not a fan of their cakes, they look really pretty but taste just average.
I just went to Melbourne for a visit and this was by far the best bakery place I have been to. All the cakes are very yummy and the macaroons are amazingly well flavoured
Approximate cost: $35
Amazing selection of French cakes, breads and savories. Can get quite busy but worth the wait! Best patisserie in Melbourne.
Approximate cost: $10-15
the best cake shop.... extremely rich. Taste's really good....attractive. Good value for money. Nice cake shop....very popular in melbourne
I absolutely love their cakes and macarons. Pistachio Macarons are my favourite. I have chicken focaccia which is really good. I love their lamb roast. The service is rather good despite being busy. I love to sit inside and eat.
Approximate cost: $15 to 20
agreed- very busy but love eating there!
I was wowed just walking in the place. Really cool, elegant look. Wanted to eat there straight away! Had an excellent roast beef focaccia and was looking forward for the beautiful looking desserts, which unfortunately weren't as good as they looked (but boy did they look good)! Would definitely return, and would perhaps try another dessert, though they are pricey.
Approximate cost: $25
Laurent would easily be one of my favourite 'niche' bakeries to visit during my trips to Melbourne. I find the sweets and lunch items on offer to be absolutely divine (I've tried many!) and the service to be really lovely and friendly. It is a little on the expensive side for a bakery, but these are specialist cakes, tortes and baguettes on offer, so I guess it's to be expected.
Approximate cost: $15
Aside from being very busy at lunch times, the food is very good and the place is lovely. My favourite sandwich would definitely have to be the Roast Lamb in Turkish Bread. This year, my friend ordered my birthday cake from them.. It was a nice surprise!
The best cakes in Melbourne - no questions asked.
I've been to most of their shops and their factory and can say that their front of house sometimes lets them down, but behind the scenes they only use A1 ingredients and hire the best chefs / bakers.
You pay for it, but it's worth it...
amazing stuff! love their food selection
Great cakes and presentation. The service varies on the staff and they could do a bit about noise and maintaining a freshly cleaned look in the shop. The mess sometimes lets this great shop down.
agreed- love the presentation of the store! was amazing!
Great decor, very classical. Feel like being back in time in the restaurant. Had Van Gogh, Christine and Monte Carlo during the last visit. Highly recommended. Will definitely revisit.
Approximate cost: $10
agreed- love the decor! it was a highlight!
I love the interiors of this place - a typical french tea salon! There are two levels so it's always easy to find a seat. You can't beat the tarts and macarroons. I like to order take-away large cakes for birthdays.
Approximate cost: $10
Superb French patisserie, one of the best in Melbourne. The down side is their service and prices are on the high end of the spectrum. Avoid lunchtime as very busy & chaotic.
A beautiful cafe to indulge in one of their miniature cakes or a hot chocolate. Can get crowded and cramped, but you can sit outside in the alley on a nice day. Ideal for when you need a treat.
This is a lovely patisserie at the end of the alley of Little Collins Street. The display case is one of the most magnificent displays of goodies I have ever viewed in Australia. Just like Paris and so very tempting.
Well worth a visit for the croque monsieur - a fancy kind of French ham and cheese toasty. The coffee is consistently good also. Can tend to be over-crowded, so go for morning tea rather than lunch.
Approximate cost: $10
Laurent has a reputation for being pretty fancy, but I don't know if that's accurate. The fare is pretty standard, and the service at lunch times is actually pretty bad -- the place is often packed, and staff shout "Who was next?" and everyone insists they were. Some of the sweets are worth venturing in for -- especially the macarons! -- but try to come when it's quiet.
