Nice cozy restaurant. Plenty of options for the vegetarians. Serve size is very decent and will surely make you full.

I love this place for coffee with friends. It's on super trendy Carlisle street and they have a great courtyard for hanging in out the back of the cafe

A fabulous place to indulge on weekends. Lava Cafe is inviting and warm, and they offer an extensive menu of strange breakfast concoctions that delights even the most discerning taste buds. Portions are generous and food is reasonably priced. Bonus points for the Wi-Fi.

The friendliest cafe on Carlisle St. My fiance and I love eating here for breakfast on weekends as their breakfast menu is so extensive! Strange combinations that work and are really delicious, love the egg white omelette! We are always made to feel welcome and you come here often enough the staff will begin to recognize you! :) We get served straight away, never had an issue with time the food takes to arrive (quite fast even on a busy morning) and very reasonably priced. We love this place so much we've used it as a meeting location for our wedding supplier discussions and the staff have absolutely no problem if you just like to have drink and talk for a long period of time. One of the reasons I would never leave this area is because of this Cafe.

I really liked lava cafe, even though others don't. Generous portions are served and the cafe and it lacks the air of self importance and snobbery air that other cafes in the area seem to exude.

This is my favourite place for breakfast. I can't go past the breakfast roti - scrambled eggs wrapped in roti with tomato chutney...and bacon if you like.
Great atmosphere for a sunny Sunday morning. There's a large 'common' table at the front to share with others and read the paper.

Approximate cost: $12
