Ling Nam is a casual fine dining restaurant that serves Chinese food. It's a great place to come in with a group of friends or family since they serve food for sharing (typical Chinese diner). If you decide to come and dine at Ling Nam, I highly suggest you to order mainly seafood dishes since that's what they are famous for. In fact their XO sauce is the best I found so far in Melbourne and you can't go wrong to choose any seafood with xo sauce. They are famous for pipi with xo sauce (usually ordered with chinese donuts - chinese donuts are not sweet like western donuts). When in season, I love to order scallops with the shells served with XO sauce (again). Crabs with xo sauce with egg noodles are so yummy and recommended. I also love kangkung belachan (water spinach with prawn chilli paste). If you are in mood for fried chicken, they also serve very delicious fried chicken with salt and chilli. I also order boiled really fresh prawns occassionally and they are sweet as is but you can dip it with the sauce they provide (soysauce with fresh chillies). Those were really good. As you can see from my review, it's a great place to eat spicy food but maybe not so good for people who have low tolerance for spicy food because you'll be missing out on all those good food that I recommend. But if you are not afraid of some little chiilies, you must give them a try. By the way, the male waiters here are very friendly and love to crack jokes with you, which is a rare thing to find in Chinese restaurant so that is definitely a plus.

this place has one of my favourite chinese dish pipi's with xo sauce and you need to get chinese donuts to eat with. use the donuts to dip the yummy sauce. when you go to this place every table will have a plate of pipi's and chinese donuts as entree.
when in season fresh lobster or scallops in shell with xo sauce is also yummy. you got to have the lobster with eggs noodles!!

Their xo pipis is legendary, it's a must order dish when dining at Ling nam. Do try also, their stir fried vegies with dried scallops, so yummy.

good food, good service (one of the waiters can crack up a joke, which is rare to be found in other chinese restaurant ). Compared to other chinese restaurant, i can say Ling Nam gives the best customer service, it is not a restaurant when u get the bill while you are still eating, they keep refilling your tea and make sure you have enough space in your table to eat.

Once, my sister was moving plates around table, and almost drop a hot tea on my section of the table, and the waiter saw it and gave took the cup right away and said "let me do for you"

man, was i touched !! (there is apparently a Chinese restaurant with good customer service). It has became out most favourite destination for chinese food fix.

their Crab in XO sauce with noodles is SUPERB, all the seafood are fresh :)

Ling Nam serve their famous pipis in xo sauce with chinese donuts.... sooo good! They do a magnificent mud crab in xo sauce or ginger and spring onion on a bed of noodles. Food is top notch. Place is always busy, especially towards the weekend and its open till 3am! So if you want Chinese and your in the city, head to chinatown to Ling Nam.

You can always count on Ling Nam for a quick fix of XO pippies, legendary crispy fried chicken or oysters! They have the freshest seafood ever and the quality of their food is superb. They are only until 3am everyday. They have a huge chinese clientele because the food is genuinely legendary! Best enjoyed before or after a huge night out!
