This unmissable Sydney landmark is as fun as it is iconic. And not as expensive as I'd have thought.

We went to Luna Park on a Saturday night in mid-2012 and learned that, if you buy your ticket after 6pm, you get two for the price of one entry! That's unlimited rides for 2 adults for only $60. Not each. Between us. We were chuffed. We had an absolute ball of a night, and while there aren't a huge amount of rides, we struggled to fit them all in, running from one short queue to another, laughing giddily.

But I think Luna Park's about a little bit more than the rides. Sure. Visit. Ride the ferris wheel that'll dangle you out across the gorgeous harbour. Spend the few dollars for entry to Coney Island. But it's kind of about the experience of being there. Walking through that deranged laughing face. Watching the lights from the rides sparkle off the water at night and glow behind you as you wave goodbye on the ferry. It still feels FUN, and magical, like it did when I was a kid. So really, the best part of Luna Park, is that the best part is free.

But nostalgia aside, it's fun. Tickets are actually sold based on height; as you have to be over 'x' height to ride certain rides, you pay less for children who won't be able to use them all. You can pay per ride, or buy a ticket for the whole day. It's an amusement park, it's NOT cheap (and the food certainly isn't--nor is there much variety apart from the usual fried fare), but it's one of those unmissable Sydney sights. Not to be missed.

I must say I love Luna Park, it brings back memories for me and the views are awsome !
We recently toke the kids for a fun day out, it is so overpriced and the value in the rides is just not there.
its really confusing with the different colour tag system they have in place. The line ups for the rides can take over 30 mintues on some rides which makes waiting (with kids) extrememly boring and hard.
We went into the indoor kids ride area and some kids were having many rides on the slippery slides. Instead of having a few go's and then giving up their mats to other people in the line they were continuing to go on the slides many times. We watched 2 girls go on about 15 times and the Luna Park staff member did not say a word. My husband spoke up and said that they had been waiting for up to 20 minutes to go on the slides but there were no mats, there was no control or organisation in that area. People were just doing what they wanted. Which made it unfair for newcomers entering the slides.

We found that the food is really pricey also.

Overall we don't go here that much so all in all it was a fun day.

Approximate cost: $250.00

This place is WAY overpriced. There arent may rides and if you go on a busy day you will spend most of your time just waiting cause all the rides have ques. if luna park was located anywhere else in sydney it wouldnt be so expensive its just on prime realestate

not many rides for adults, mainly good for little ones but of course it offers some great views of the harbour other than that its a real shame for Sydney not to have a bigger, better theme park like the ones in QLD for example. Lets see if Wet & Wild Sydney is going to make us proud :)

Used to come here with friends and family, yet I tend to find that the kids enjoy the theme park more than adults would. The rides are very friendly based for kids. They don't have much variety in rides but they do have great tourist attractions/sight seeings and a simple path to walk on. But, I feel that Luna Park should reduce the price of the tickets, as I feel the value for money was poor. Not only that, prices of the foods are quite expensive. Better in night, while the lights give another attraction. I recommend bringing your own food and to bring your kiddies here!

Approximate cost: $$

Good for a stroll through and a few tourist snaps, for free. Nothing too exiting and somewhat surprising opening (or rather lack of) hours. Not much point doing any rides unless you are a kid or desperate. Best at night, with the lights adding to the feeling.

Approximate cost: $from 0

Took one of the kids and a bunch of friends here on the weekend as a birthday celebration. Paid for unlimited ride arm bands for everyone and only managed to get on 4 rides over 6 hours. There were very few suitable rides for this age group 9 years, they were all for older kids or tots. The only redeeming feature is Coney Island, I paid the $10 for an armband for entry, to and accompany the kids and they had a great time on the slides, wonky walk and mirror maze. I wished I'd just purchased the 10 armbands for Coney Island and left it at that. I was surprised at just how few rides there are now and some of the really good ones like the swinging chairs are gone now.

Approximate cost: $40 each

I have to say, this place feels much like 1/4 of a 'theme park'. Few rides, none of them really outstanding in any way in my opinion.

It used to be so much better when we were kids!

I must say, I love Luna Park! For me it brings back happy memories, even though there was that awful fire in the ghost train. I really loved the rotor, and still love Coney island, where for $ 10 you can stay in and slide on the giant slides and play on the other fun old fashioned things for as long as you like! The other good thing is you can just walk through and have a look while strolling up through Lavender bay gardens up along the bay, for absolutely no charge!!

Ride pass was real expensive and made the $99 year pass seem good value. However had a fun afternoon just watching and playing side shows, at least everyone gets a prize on the clowns. Had an amazing sundae for only around $4, lollies, 2 flavours, sauce and chocolate wafer sticks, WAS YUM.
