Took our son for his birthday dinner here while on holidays. Its not a bad place but the food wasnt that great and the service was awful. Vert rude waiter. It seemed to be a busy place aswell so took awhile for our food to come.

I have visited Mangrove Jacks on more than half a dozen occasions now and I have always considered it much more of a beach sports bar than a café bar. The setting itself looks quite nice with you getting a lovely breeze from the tables. The food generally comes out in very decent sized portions and tastes pretty good (on a par with most other better quality pub grub meals) There is also a TAB and pokies room for those who wish to try their luck. I have always found the bar and wait staff to be very friendly and competent in their jobs.

it kind of feels like a pub inside rather than a "cafe bar" as they advertise themselves... we were both terribly hungry and didn`t really want to waist much time browsing the streets of Airlie (as it was our 1st visit at this resort), thus decided to hop in. pizzas seems to be their "speciality", but they sort of lack the elegance & taste to them (well at least, our rustic & vegetarian pizzas did). the "small" size was enough to fill our bellies (while those who had ordered "large" pizzas around us ended up asking for the take away boxes). in general, they seem to be very generous with their portions. the prices were very reasonable, but the food wasn`t of the best taste or quality for sure (probably because they are using cheap products, such as canned veggies, as was the case with my antepasto pizza).

Approximate cost: $20

I wouldn't rush to go here again, but it certainly wasn't a bad experience. I ordered pizza and it was fine, but a little skimpy with the toppings. The desserts seemed overpriced and so we didn't have them, but the drinks were reasonable. Considering that there is no view from the restaurant, the prices that they charge are possibly a little optimistic. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience.

Approximate cost: $25

Not so pleased with this one. We had a shop-a-docket voucher so thought we'd give it a whirl while on holiday. For $20 we were given a large pizza to share and two glasses of house wine. The service left a lot to be desired. Firstly after handing over out pizza voucher the lady then asked what we wanted. Pizza maybe?
We were handed drinks vouchers to go get our drinks ourselves. When the pizza arrived I had to ask for some plates for us to eat off as we had none or any cutlery.
Lastly, you expect house wine to be not the best wine ever, but this wine was not drinkable at all. Im a 24 yr old just out of uni, and even I couldnt get past a couple sips!
Plenty of room for improvement at this place!!

Approximate cost: $20 for two people
