I used this service a couple of times with my first child. The nurses on the phone are helpful but it does take a long time to get through to speak to someone; I once waited 1 1/4 hrs (on speakerphone. After having my 2nd child, it was just too hard to wait so long on the phone with a crying baby and demanding toddler.

The Maternal and Child Health Care Line in theory is a good idea and is great if you are not in a hurry for advice. If you are concerned and want immediate piece of mind for the well being of your child the waiting time is unreasonable. Waiting time sometimes exceeds 45 minutes. On two separate occasions, I have also had troubles getting through to the waiting queue due to the phone self service prompts malfunctioning.

this service is a must for all new perants, my children injured them selves a few times and this service was totally handy,they give you usefull tips and help u calm down,but they take long to answer the call because they must have many people calling,but i do reccomond this,

I have a one child and another on the way, being a first time parent was scary and I found this service very reassuring when I had concerns regarding my child. I have always received great advice and intend on using them again if need be.

I used them a lot with my first and then again after the birth of my second (special needs) child. They were always so kind and caring, and were a wonderful source of information and encouragement on those days that everything went wrong.

I have used them on quite a few ocassions, especially when my children were very little. They give great advice and don't judge you. And if you have had a really bad day with no sleep and break down in tears, they listen and make you feel like maybe you aren't a bad parent after all.

Great service, really helpful for first time parents and I found it really helpful and I iwould use it again and I really dont know what else to say but it was great and I liked it

Amazing piece of mind for parents. It is great to have someone to call to check that your thoughts are correct or ask advise on what to do next. The people on the phone are not judgmenal and are very calming.

I have called this number quite a lot, especially when the children were little. It was really helpful to be able to call someone at 2am when you're not sure if you are worrying about something unnecessarily but not sure if you should just rush off to the hospital or call an ambulance or something.
