Maxi is the closest supermarket to myself and I have also found them to be the best in service and best prices for everything I need. Staff are always friendly and everything is easy to find..

Approximate cost: $30

Maxi is quite close to where I live, without a car I'm sometimes stuck having to walk there for groceries!
I have to admit that any produce they have is never fresh.
The meat can be brown rather then pink and vegetables and fruit are never at their best. They barely ever have fresh bread and the milk always seems to go off before the use by date is here.
I have even witnessed packet cheese and bacon going mouldy in their cool section
The service is good though
Overall not a good review

I chose to shop at Maxi foods for my weekly shoping thinking their lots cheaper than others. They share the same brands as Coles and Woolies but unfortunetly on my day, had no specials I was interested in which lead me to spending more on the things I wanted. They can't satisfy everyone every day of the week, so I dont expect it. The store was clean with kind staff members who wanted to help with my new baby.

Always a reasonable place to go for groceries, a great selection of 'gourmet' cheeses which is most impressive for Maxi Foods, however the prices are extremely high for what would be reasonable. Maxi Foods used to be quite cheap but now compared to places like Aldi there seems to be not as many discounts as there used to be.

Specials at this supermarket are great when they have market day on every 2nd Thursday, but the thing that does annoy me sometimes on a Wednesday, they have the specials ready for the thursday but no prices on them, when you ask someone working there they tell you to go down to where the actual grocery item is in the isle, well why DONT they put the price on to start with. Good variety of grocies, but i do feel there fruit and vegies are a little pricey on normal days.

My fiance and I have bought out of date products, or products that may be in date but have been left in the sun for ages, unless u walk in there wearing a suit they will give you greezies and look at you weirdly. They over price for unsavoury goods, my thoughts, "At least go to Aldi"!!! But wait when you get to the counter you are greeted with a great conversation about their area manager being fired for steeling stock, which while shopping there on my maiden visit I noticed the other boss pinching stuff, why would I wanna here about there problems? What ever happened to "Good Morning" or "Good afternoon Sir how are you today"???

How can you judge a business on one visit? I disagree with you opinion completely!! I shop there regularly and i ALWAYS find staff helpful and friendly. The one time i did buy out of date stock they not only gave me a refund but also a replacement!!! Get that at Safeway?? I doubt it!
Christian i'd say you've never worked in retail..... The staff in supermarkets are ordinary people, maybe you were so rude they didn't care if you had a good afternoon? Hooray Maxi, can't wait for your big move!!

I too AGREE with CHRISTIAN ... We have shopped in MAXI on a total of three or four occasions over the past three years since moving to Ballarat & were shocked to see so many items on the shelves out of dates !!
... And so many items laced in absolutely thick dust. I have never seen that in a supermarket in Melb in 30years of supermarket shopping.

We too found the service at the checkout to be questioned.

I think the Manager of MAXI needs to learn more than a thing or two from Coles, Safeway & Aldi !!!!!!!

Perhaps if ‘SallyannT’ is so pleased with the service at Maxi Foods (and isn't personally employed by the establishment), she could take the time to write her own review of the business? Since there is only one review, this would be appreciated.
