Dean and Chris were professional, courteous and happy to involve us in the project, keeping us informed of all that was going on. They were totally accommodating when we made some small changes to the original plan, and provided sound advice when asked. The contractor who laid the flooring in our new room said that it was the best, most even floor work he had seen, requiring little preparation from him before he laid the floor covering. Dean and Chris were extremely neat, tidying up every day before they left the premises. We have had extensive renovations done to our home and have found Dean and his team to be methodical and thorough in accomplishing the job at hand. A while back we had plans drawn up for a fairly major extension to our home which is two bedrooms and a bathroom, with continuation of an existing deck. The project was difficult because our acre age block is hilly and rocky, and the new building was to be above existing rain water tanks which could not be moved. A number of builders came and looked, and either threw up their arms and departed muttering no way or gave a ridiculously exorbitant quote. When Allan and Dean McDonald arrived however, things changed. They acknowledged there were some challenges to the site but nothing they had not see before. They calmly set out how they would approach the job and we began to feel we had found the right builder. As the build progressed our confidence grew as it became apparent that these guys were good, very good. Rarely had I seen such professional tradespeople, who went about their business in a competent yet relaxed manner. We were pleasantly surprised by the lengths they went to match both internal and external features of the extension to the existing house, nothing was too much trouble. The finished product is something we are truly pleased with and we are grateful to McDonald and Son Builders for the way they went about the job. They were incredibly reliable and courteous throughout. We have no hesitation in recommending Dean and his team for any building project.
