Had engineered timber floorboards installed in December 2012. Told that it was hard wearing. Shown lovely gap free example in showroom. Installation was quick and I thought the price was competive. Two weeks after install boards warped -- we were told it was sun damage! Since then other gaps have appeared and some boards are split down the middle. 3 months later -- No apology from MFB and we are still walking on wonky floors.

Melbourne Floor Direct said they would replace our floors in April. They never did. They said they couldn't get replacement stock and didnt provide a timeframe for when it would be available. I asked for a refund. They ignored my email and phone calls. Off to consumer affairs Victoria we go.

We had flooring installed. We agreed to use a certain wood, instead they substituted different wood which makes it look terrible. The installers did not understand English so communication was extremely difficult. Overall - Avoid like the plague.

We have just recently used Melbourne Floor Direct to sand and polish our Tasmanian Oak Floor Boards. We found them when we had attended the Herald Sun Home Show earlier in the year. We had seen many other flooring companies there but when we told them that we are not looking at renovating till October they sort of lost interest and moved on to the next lot of people at the stand. Not Melbourne Floor Direct, they were helpful, understanding and not pushy. They gave us their business card and told us to contact them when we are ready.

So, we looked them up when we were ready and we were not disappointed. Their quality, service was great and it was real value for money.

Wilson was most helpful and gave us realistic expectations of what our flooring will look like after sanding and polishing as our floor boards were not as hard-wearing as the other hard wood types. One place of concern was a particular spot that was worn down in a patch and we were not promised that it would come out as good as the other sections. However, after the work was finished we were amazed that it was not far off the quality as the other undamaged sections. Well done to the guys who did the work.

Thank you Wilson - Melbourne Floor Direct

You are so lucky that you only used them to polish your boards. I feel like crying every time I look at the floors. What a nightmare!
