Like yum!!!
The showcase just leaves that nice first and last impression.
It's hard to forget this place once you've seen it

I have previously reviewed an old favourite cake and gateaux maker whose cakes used to be a little cheaper than Muratti's... but as time has gone by, other cakes have become more expensive, but Muratti's have not.

You will pay roughly $55 for a 9" cake, which is slightly smaller than cakes of a similar price at other, lesser cake shops. But Muratti cakes and Gateaux are perfection itself. The chocolate Concorde is a favourite. It is awhile since I've had it, but from memory, it is a light, fluffy dream of chocolate cake... the VERY BEST I have ever tasted... the layers subtly, elegantly balanced, the even, elegant twirls of chocolate meringue sticks on top a study in perfection.

I bought a couple of mini-cakes for my boyfriend's birthday, and although he is not a huge fan of cakes, they made him swoon with delight.

We have just begun to discuss, in a fanciful way, our future wedding, and I jokingly said we'd have a Muratti cake for our wedding. He agreed... stay tuned, it will happen!

These guys make the best cakes. Very expensive but is it so worth it. They make custom cakes for different events and I love their cakes. Would recommend them to everyone who likes cakes.

Approximate cost: $35

The hardest thing about Muratti's is decided what to eat! Beautiful little morsels of delight and the coffee is great as well. And why ever bake a birthday cake again when you can pick up something divine here. Yum!

Excellent store, excellent service and the best Banana Caramel Pie anywhere - and when can't (shouldn't) eat a full one they even have mini ones!!

Extremely nice cakes here. Very tastey and delicious, also well presented. The sizes are quite large too but for an expensive price! Can request custom made cakes with special themes for special events. I particularly love the caramel cheesecake, was one of the best I had. Remember to order ur cake well before the occasion though , because they can take a while to make.

Approximate cost: $30

Muratti Cakes & Gateaux certainly make absolutely delicious cakes! For our last three special events we have ordered cakes from this business because of the excellent taste and quality of the cakes. The black forest gateaux was particularly nice and received many compliments from guests.

However, as other reviewers have mentioned, the prices are expensive. The service has been good but not great each time. The shop itself is well-presented and is usually very busy with customers having coffee and cake.

Overall, I would recommend Muratti Cakes & Gateaux for special functions.

Approximate cost: $100

If ever i need a cake for a special occasion I always head into see the guys at Muratti. I can simply order via their website, or over the phone. But even if its last minute there will always been something yummy to chose from. Also the coffee is great with a little biscuit nibble if you wanted. I have picked up a vegie or bacon tart on the odd occasion too, and people seem to really enjoy these. Parking is across the road or round the courner, but such a lovely place to visit who cares!

I agree- fantastic quality, look great and very tasty but they are expensive and I save them for very special occasions only.

Amazing range of cakes here. Would recommend for a special occasion but note the price before ordering. You can also take pot luck as they do sell whole cakes from the display just no guarantee of getting the one you want. They do have a nice shop and make a lovely chai. Good eating just a bit too pricey.

Muratti is my favourite of the traditional European style cake and gateaux shops. They have a very rich selection of cakes from the very heavy to the not so heavy fruit and nut flans. Their mud cake is a favourite and will last for weeks – both because it is packed full of yummy sweetness and also because it is so heavy you can only eat a few bites in a sitting! Another favourite is a less heavy chocolate moose filled gateaux with white chocolate curls on top! Prices have gone up up in recent years and they have strange opening hours. You can order a cake be prepared to pick it up at an inconvenient time. Since the move (ok it has been a few years already) to the new premises the refit looks much nicer and now you can sit and have a slice and a coffee.
