I wouldn't go back considering it was quite average. It's mainly the appeal of dim sum at night. If you have the time of day go to another dim sum place during the day for better quality food. Price and service is standard.

We actually went to have Dimsum during weekend night time and this place is packed. Worth the wait though as they do serve great deep fried squid or any deep fried stuff. The usual order, steam bun, prawn, all hit the marks. Would return again!

One of the few dim sum places open at night. We were out in a large group looking for a late dinner and after walking around northbridge for half an hour decided to give this place a go. The food was average but we were very hungry at that time, so we did not hold back on ordering. The price was pretty good for dim sum anyway. The interior decorations of this restaurant was quite pleasant, non traditional- very brightly lit. Seats were comfortable and service was friendly. All in all we had a good night out.

While driving through Northbridge we noticed lots of people were lining up outside the New Moon for Yum Cha, so my boys (7&9) and I decided to try it out.

The place was really busy but the service was good and staff were attentive. The Dim Sum on the other hand was very disappointing. Some of them did not taste like they were freshly made and the quality was very poor. For example the BBQ pork buns tasted like it had been previously frozen and the filing were like the BBQ pork buns you buy from the Asian grocery store..yuk.

My boys rated the New Moon's Dim Sum 2/10 in comparison to Dragon Seafood Chinese Restaurant aka Dragon Palace just a bit further up on James St.

I believe this restaurant took over a previous dim sum place which was pretty ordinary. After the refurbishment (last year?), it is now a clean, new, modern setting for dim sum. Plus, they have evening dim sum on Fridays and Saturdays too (do check before you go). I went on one Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago,on a rainy day. The air con was freezing. Anyway, the dim sum we had were pretty nice and I had my usual prawn dumpling, flour rolls, and a myriad others. It's not the best, but it's certainly worth the while.

Approximate cost: $20

Went to this new dim sum place in town. We all love the previous managerment team so guess should give the new management team a try. Well, what I can say, is the dim sum is not as good as the previous shop, food seems to be steamed for a long time / oversteamed.

Approximate cost: $5
