This is my favourite restaurant!! I don't come here often, because there are always so many people (so make sure you book beforehand!!) But, it's so good!! The friend buns are my favourite. You can also buy pre-made dumplings here to make at home or order take-away, which is so good :)
Delicious bao and dumplings. I like the beef variety, as well as their dim sims and spring rolls. Nice simple tasting food.
This sounds yum
New Shanghai is a fantastic restaurant to buy an affordable lunch or dinner. Their Xiao Long Bao, congee and the pan fried dumplings are my favourite.
For the quality, it's affordable
We came here last weekend for lunch. It;s great to see staff in the window making dumplings and chinese buns. Great to see it made on site using fresh and tasty ingredients too.
We waited about 15mins for a table and the waiter arrived promptly to take our order.
We ordered Pork and wonton soup, dim sims, rice cakes with pork and some yummy salt and pepper squid!
The food arrived quickly and we hungrily ate it all. For the price you pay, the food is pretty good. I really enjoyed the pork with wonton soup and the salt and pepper calamari.
Only downside is it gets pretty busy and if you don't mind waiting for a table, this is the place for you.
Will come again for the yummy dishes.
Approximate cost: $8.50 +
Before 5.30 pm is fine on weekdays to avoid the queues. Weekends is a different story. Expect a long wait. I am a regular here, and the food prices are quite reasonable and on the cheap side compared to many of the other dumpling places, but sometimes the food quality can be inconsistent.
Hi Stormrider199,
Yes we are regulars here too ...the staff love my kids! We are usually there about 5.15 whilst the staff are eating their dinner. Agree with you the weekends are flat out busy! The prices are very reasonable .... bargain really!
Cheers,
Velvethearts
We are regulars here as well, and this is yum!
This is a traditional Chinese dimsim Restaurant. Providing many kinds of small dimsim such as wonton and dumpling. but you can not miss out their XiaoLongBao because of the juicy contents. highly recommended.
Yes!! One of my favourite foods!
The food is delicious especially the dumplings (steamed and fried). The cost is quite cheap and the service wasn't that bad.
This place has great dumplings
I had lunch there. nice service and dish.
As I can't understand Shanghai dialect, so I couldn't catch a chat.
By observing owner's conversation with other customers, I think it is a quite popular restaurant.
Approximate cost: $18
I agree! Very popular
I went there for lunch and the steam dumplings were the best and the open kitchen is a reassurance. Yet the noodles are a bit disappointing and the panfried buns were average. The steam dumplings are the must-have.
Approximate cost: $9
with a wide rage of choices on the menu, the New Shanghai is an excellent restaurant with delicious meals at great prices too. The steamed pork buns with thinner skin and fresh soup inside you never miss it. the fried pork buns with a crispy skin, good choice.
Approximate cost: $7.5
Sometimes a little overshadowed by its neighbour Shanghai Night, the New Shanghai is an excellent restaurant with delicious meals at great prices too. It has a huge menu that includes its own slightly unique dishes - try the interesting steamed dim sims or the hugely popular mini pork buns.
Approximate cost: $8-$15
