After being very sick for hours and not wanting to sit in an ED waiting room I found this hotline and gave them a ring. They were very friendly and helpful and even pointed me in the direction of another service that is on it's way to my house to give me an anti-nausea injection now. I would have never known about that service if not for them.

I had seriously burnt 3 finger, where the skin blistered and swelled up 3 times the size, ended up looking like raw meat. After 2 days of throbbing pain (which I could sleep through I rang Nurse on Call. Apart from general advise to keep it aerated, there was no advice about antibiotics, or keeping the fingers exercised through the range of motions (so skin won't grow back immobilizing the finger) I found the service dedicated to keeping you away from going to hospital, as the burn was considered not significant as it didn't cover the whole hand.

OK, it's free, but in life you get what you pay for. The advice I got was very common-sense stuff, and they always seem to end up with "go see a doctor" which makes me wonder what the point really is. The nurses I've spoken to always seem very nice, but the advice is pretty much the same as I could get over the back fence with my neighbour - "If it gets worse, go see a doctor..."

FREE SERVICE ... i have rang Nurse On Call about 5 times over the past 3years for myself and my daughter when she was a baby and then toddler and these women are absolutely FANTASTIC and so incredibly helpful, friendly and caring. Phone call is answered quickly and they help you with information very promptly so they don't beat around the bush which helps if you are extremely worried or in a panic state of mind.
They are great to ring if you are unsure of something as a new Mother or if need to know precautions before heading to the hospital emergency for something.
I recommend this service to everyone and to keep their phone where it's easy to reach in emergency, eg like on the fridge.

Can't say enough good things about this service. When I was a new mother with a colicky baby boy, their calm, professional advice was invaluable, especially when I had the middle of the night jitters about some health problem or other that bubs was experiencing. Highly recommended!

I have rang these lovely and helpful nurses a number of times for myself and my children. Instead of waiting hours in casualty just to find out there's nothing wrong these ladies can make life easier by giving you advice on what could be wrong and how to fix it.

Depending on time of day it can be difficult to get through. However if you are lucky enough to get through the nurses are very helpful in recommending what to do. Much easier that rushing to the hospital.
