The food was great and very innovative! There was quite a line for the early lunch we had but worth the wait. The decor was exquisite and I would recommend for breakfast!

I hate waiting for a table, and we had to wait almost an hour at this place on a Saturday morning. We got there at around 9:45 am and the line was already out the door. I had high expectation but was slightly disappointed. For that long of a wait time I should have gone to Hardware societe. I had the corn fritters and hot chocolate. The corn fritters were just OK, nothing special. WHile were there, the owner was giving out free mini cupcakes- the cupcake was yummy.

Was told that this was one of the best cafes in Melbourne. The matcha almond hotcakes were so good, for $18 it was slightly pricey but worth the try.

Operator 25 is in my opinion the best cafe in Melbourne. I went there because the cafe was highly recommended by my friend. The breakfast was so good and the coffee and hot chocolate was superb. I live that you can get a bigger serving of hot chocolate in drinking bowl.

Operator 25 is located in the west end of town, near the flagstaff gardens just before you hit the victoria markets area.
It is housed in a heritage building, and the interior is half warehouse half modern minimalism.
On to the menu however, this is where this cafe really shines.
The coffee is really good. They use code black beans from brunswick. As for the food, you can choose from any number of interesting options, large or small, from the diverse menu. Depending on your level of hunger and the time of the day.
For breakfast, I have had the baked eggs - a really generous and hearty serve with sweet, plump roasted tomatoes, great Northern beans, chorizo, goats curd and house made corn bread.
For lunch, I'd recommend any one of the suckling pig burger - mix of tender, juicy and well marinated pork belly & shoulder sandwiched between a well-buttered brioche bun and served with sweet potato fries and small pieces of perfectly fried pork cracklings; or Braised Lamb Shoulder with spring vegetables, pea puree, romesco and lamb jus; Nicoise salad - colourful mix of sprightly classic nicoise salad vegetables topped with perfectly seared tuna that melts in your mouth.
For any in between or something sweet, definitely try the Coconut & Tonka Bean Sago - it is wonderfully light, with huge hits of sago and crisp citrus flavours from the dollop of mango curd.
I always leave Operator 25 a very happy person, not least because my stomach and taste buds are satisfied. The menu is well priced, and the staff are delightful people.

Can we claim Operator25 for West Melbourne? I think we should. Great fit out, friendly and efficient staff and great coffee. The carnivore wolfed his Wagyu burger down, like, well a wolf!
