I cannot resist Otto's pies and sausage rolls. So lunch was a pie to enjoy sitting outside. They have a great range of savoury and sweet baked good. The kitchener buns are mouthwatering but I was restrained this time. Next time perhaps.

will give the kitchener buns a try next time, thanks.

It was ok but probably would go elsewhere next time, we purchased some pies and sausage rolls and they just didn't hit the spot, they lacked flavour, in particular the pies - so very disappointing. Our previous visit, some time ago, we found them to be quite delicious, maybe there has been a change in management.

Came here the other weekend to enjoy a day out in Hahndorf. We saw a crowd of people at the entrance so we walked in to see what all the fuss is about.
bought myself a bacon and cheese bread roll. It was freshly made so it still had the doughy smell, but besides that nothing too special.

Approximate cost: $avg

I go here most weeks on my work lunch break. The freshly made rolls are tasty but I unfortunately would like some improvement on their food handling skills. I am a vegetarian and when I asked for a roll to be made up, the man made it up on a dirty surface that was smeared with bits of meat, cranberry sauce, etc from previously made rolls. As a result when I received my roll, there were bits of meat and sauce pressed into the bottom of my roll which was very displeasing. As a result I don't order the rolls here anymore. The staff are friendly and the food is good, but I really was disgusted by the various unwanted ingredients pressed into my roll.

Approximate cost: $4

Ugh! No excuse for poor handling and hygiene practices

Busy bakery, especially at lunchtimes. Separate seating areas outside and at the back of the shop. Typical bakery fare - have a range of pies and pasties (Inc several vegie options) plus you can have your own rolls/sandwiches made up to order. Good coffee too. Nothing special but good, honest food.

This bakery is amazing!! The variety of food is huge and the taste of the food is to die for.

You can buy big family pies for about $15-$20 and they are HUGE!!!

Their sweet food section is mouth watering. It took me about 5 minutes to decide which sweet to get. I ended up with 2 haha!

I am pretty sure they have won awards for some of the best pies in SA.

There is also a good amount of seating inside and outside.

I highly recommend this bakery and go their every time I go to Hahndorf.

Upon arriving at the bakery I was spoilt for choice in pastries and cakes. Plenty of range even at the end of lunch rush, great anticipation of the busy periods. Wonderful food and best chocolate doughnuts.
Only downside was that there is no set line for service and the staff just guess which at busy periods can cause line cutting and confusion. I was overlooked many times before being served.

Approximate cost: $24.00

OMG! I loved this place. My friends didnt find anything to inspire but I didnt know where to start. The pies and pasties are made on the premises and larger than normal but this time I was after a "doggy bag" and found a 6 pack of the most amazing looking tarts. strawberry, apricot and lemon. Tomorrow night will be taste test by my big brother. I think I might bribe him for a taste. LOL!

Approximate cost: $5

The best bakery in Hahndorf. They have a good range of bakery products with some german goodies like Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake). The chocolate donuts there are so fresh and fluffy. The shop is also large and inviting and caters for larger groups of people.
