I just purchased a cake from pelligra I asked for a smooth buttercream cylinder cake I got a rough fat big cake I even emailed them a photo of what I wanted and they couldn't get it right!!! Extremely disappointed

Coffee here is strong and hot and you often get a piece of almond cake with it. You can get canoli here among all the other Italian cookies and icecream. Pies and quiches. and pizza slices. Sooo good value, you can't beat them in the area. We have often bought their cakes here for celebrations. The mud cakes have thick ganache icing and are very affordable and look impressive with strawberries and writing. They feed HEAPS of people. The sour cherry baked cheesecakes are fab! sooo good and beat the other commercial varieties handsdown. If you need something to take to a dinner party come here!! and lunch here is tasty too...they even make fresh sandwiches to order...what don't they do!! The cafe itself isn't huge but don't let that put you off you can still squeeze a pram in here. But this is not the place to bring a large group. Tables only fit about four ppl. The display of cakes though is amazing!! it will make your mouth water.

Our family have ordered so many cakes over the years from her, and they have all been fantastic. The latest was a gorgeous Christening cake with a stained glass theme to it. Everyone was very impressed with the way it looked, and the cake was beautiful and light and moist as well. It is also a great spot to stop in and have a coffee and cake, which I think is as good as anything you would get in Carlton.

The cakes and pies here are delicious (if I could underline that I would!). There is a lot of seating to have a snack or lunch inside, with a cup of tea or coffee.

They also do an amazing range of cakes for special occassions, I have bought a number of cakes for birthdays here - I recommend the white chocolate caramel cake - divine - and they do loads of different styles. The cake range for special occasions is on a iPad for you to look through. I have bought in a photo for them to scan onto a cake before, and the effect is really great. I gave them a weeks notice to make the latest cake I ordered, but I don't know what the minimum time is.

My daughter recently turned two and mid-week before her party she started telling ALL her friends and family she was having a Thomas Cake!!! I have no idea where she got this from but she was adamant so out came the phone and I rang and rang every cake shop in our area and slightly beyond. After running out of time I rang Pelligra back, as they have the yummiest cakes around here for the best price and when explaining my dilemma the young girl on the phone said "hang on a minute, I'll check that there isn't something we can do for you" and when she came back she said "we can scan pretty much any image to put on the cake so why don't you bring some images of Thomas that you like and we'll scan the best one" - YAY! The Thomas cake was BEAUTIFUL and because we had been able to alter it slightly to be a bit more girly it was unique and my daughter couldn't have been happier, nor prouder ;) She still want to see photos of it! Oh and the total end up cost was really reasonable and it was YUMMY! No matter what you want, pop in and ask, you'll be surprised what they'll be able to do - and while you are there indulge in a cup of the best coffee this side of Carlton.
