Peper lunch is probably one of my favorite place to eat, closed during the month of july the george st branch is due to open again today (can't wait to go tonight) great concept with the hot plate system, great range of beef- chicken and salmon dishes. The one bite wagyu is amazing! for only $16 you have a succulent 8 to 10 pieces of beef sizzling on your place with rice and veggies on the side. there is another pepper lunch just opposite the convention center, it's a bit smaller, they offer the same products but the owner have a rewards card system that give you points you can redeem every time you come back. I hope the George st branch does the same. Overall it taste great, with great prices, the staff is really friendly and you can see they enjoy working there which is always good to see.

Approximate cost: $10-20

not too bad, a pretty unique way to enjoy your meal !. (they came in raw on a hot plate and you will have to stir around to get your food cooked properly by your self which is pretty interesting and unique). The down side is that the quantity is probably not enough for a grown man.

Approximate cost: $12

Upon entrance, Pepper Lunch doesn't look like much more than one of those strange, foreign restaurants you'd glance over and walk on by. But if you can ignore the blank, cafeteria-style dining and strange combinations, you're in for a great experience.

The waitstaff are friendly without being intrusive. They take your order, they deliver your meal, they smile and thank you as you leave. They're notably patient when you're making orders and are always ready to offer suggestions and deals.

The food is so simple yet somehow distinguished. My favourite dish is the cut steak & hamburger, which is essentially thin steak, a sliced hamburger patty and various vegetables (as well as miso soup and rice!) They apply a special sauce in a hot pot that allows you to 'cook your own meal', turning over the sizzling dishes when you're ready. This experience loses its novelty quickly, but is fun for first-time goers.

However, certain dishes have a tendency to get boring quickly, and finishing them can become a chore. This is particularly true on the lunch and dinner specials, where an excessive combination of rice, sauce and whatever meat(s) you select all kind of start to taste the same after some time. As long as you get a meal with a lot of variety, this is an enjoyable little place not to gloss over.

Approximate cost: $15

If I'm thinking about the right place, I love their self-serve salad bar because I'm picky with what is in my salads.

Everyone knows this Japanese Restaurant in the city. Quick easy and very very good Japanese food. Georgeous sushi - always fresh and good noodle!! Been there many times for lunch with friends. All happy experience.

I like the food here and love its originality, cooking your own food on your specialised hot plate sure makes eating a lot more fun. I think prices are reasonable, and there's even a salad bar where you can choose a salad buffet.

the food is quite nice and unique because they put it in hot place and kind of make you feel you are cooking it your self. but not a lot of meat and the price is quite expensive for the quantity of the food.

Approximate cost: $15

I love this place so much. When im out in the city, time flies but its wonderful to know that i catch up onto the pepper lunch happy hour. For just 6.95$ i order a plate of sizzling beef pepper rice, more than enough to satisfy my hunger (but then again im a small person) service is always friendly and quick and the prices are pretty good!!

Approximate cost: $7-18
