Pig and whistle is the to go place when I am around Dandenong Ranges. The place is a bit dated, but it is a country pub and they are not pretending to be something they are not. The food is simply amazing. Their garlic bread is made from fresh home made sourdough. The pork belly is a must try if you like it a little sweet and succulent. My partner likes the fresh fish and chips. The piggie plate is full of variaty. Actually I've never had a bad meal from here. The service is good, the waitress generally knows the dishes and will recommend half portion, so you have some tummy for the dessert. The price is surprisingly affordable. I almost forgot to mention the free frangelico in chocolate shell as you leave the door. A happy ending indeed.

Approximate cost: $20-25

I love the pig. My favorite place to get away when i need some space and a pint. The food is good but the beer is great! Oh and the tasting platters are fantastic.

I love this place so much. This is one of my favorite restaurants to dine in and have been coming here for years. The food is quite nice and the variety of beers/ale is good. The atmosphere is relaxing though at times it does get a little cramped

We went to a wedding here. It was pretty great! We could choose our own meal from the menu - i thought that was great to have at a wedding. The meals were beautiful. The grounds outside were lush and green and beautiful for photo's and to sit in.

Visited for dinner during the week which was a mistake. The waitress told us that they were not expecting this many people in that night so were short staffed. If you are told this then take my advice and leave now !This led to an hour wait for the meals to arrive. We were getting up to leave when they finally arrived and I'm sorry to say the food was not of a resonable standard. The steak was overcooked for Medium and was basically inedible. Maybe if you are planning to come stick to Friday or Saturday night ?

The menu items are all delicious and amazingly good value - highly recommend the home made sourdough rye cob with butter/olive oil/red wine vinegar/salt/pepper. The service is friendly and efficient, it has a great atmosphere. They do lunch, dinner, alfresco dining in Summer with a children's play area and open fireplace in winter. English Beers are on Tap along with a range of imported beers and open 7days/nights. Popular with the locals which speaks for itself!

Approximate cost: $25
