I'm conflicted. A great place but for the wrong reasons. As a fan of Fawlty Towers it's like having Basil Fawlty serve you. No I'm not kidding or exagerating. Prices are outrageous, the food shite & coffee's like mud water. However it's still the best comedy ticket in town.

Bonus laughs for making him go old school cartoon with steam coming out his ears. Recommended tactics - ask for a specific table, bring a kid in a pram, a laptop or use your phone to witness a near aneurysm inducing event

I have a soft spot for poets as we had our wedding reception there. For this type of event I'd give it 5 stars but as a cafe it is only the location that earns it a 4th star. The coffee and service are fine, if not amazing, but the cost is just too high for the basics. Definately worth a visit though, if you are tourist heading through.

Approximate cost: $6+ for coffee

We have been to Poet's Cafe a few times now. At the bottom of the hill in Montville's Main St, it is a regular stop for us as the coffee is always consistently good.

We've tried the scones twice, on both occasions the scones were good, on one occasion the cream served with the scones was curdled.

The cake selection is good, but the portions could be slightly bigger for the price.

The staff are generally good, and efficient and the premises clean.

I have been to Poet's a few times and would consider dining there again, but there are a few drawbacks preventing me from giving them 5 stars. Firstly the good; reasonable service, a menu with good variety and a pretty setting. The drawbacks seem to be attributed to them being known as "the" place to eat in the main strip of Montville. The first is the price, the 2nd is how crowded it can get at times. They have opted for quite small tables to fit in as many people as possible and I find this can be frustrating when trying to fit everyone's meals and drinks on the table. However, if you go at a quite time, for example prior to 11:30am and there's just the two of you it can be quite pleasant.

We took to the hills on a miserable day on the "Sunshine" coast on a chilly day. Poets Cafe is a lovely place set up like a big gazebo. Unfortunately not really set up for cold weather with only tiny heaters on the outside perimeter of the closed in verandah. Lovely food though, service was a bit slow and hard to grab their attention despite the fact they weren't very busy.

Approximate cost: $17

Stopped in for coffee. $4.90 for a flat white I thought was pretty expensive but it did taste lovely. The view from the verandah was lovely. A very pleasant stop whilst in Montville

Montville is a lovely quiet little town on QLD's Sunshine Coast. I was looking for a cafe that was still open for lunch mid-late afternoon, and this was one of the very few. The interior is absolutely beautiful, a lovely place to sit for a quiet catch-up. The service was great, just about hand and foot! The food was freshly prepared and served piping hot...but $30 for a plate of fish and chips?? Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, but didn't realise how much I'd be paying for it!

Approximate cost: $35.00 for lunch

Nice location, good service but sadly the whole experience was marred by their $30.00 hamburger. It was shameful. You would expect at least that the meat was not overdone, but it was. Sadly it was quite inedible. I picked it up and everything fell out of it. I think they are only in business because of the location. If the business had to survive on it's food alone it would fail.

Approximate cost: $25 -$30+

Poet's Cafe is in a fantastic location in the main street of Montville with an amazing rainforest backdrop. The decor is old world and stylish and creates a warm and inviting ambience.

The menu is extensive and the fare is of a high quality - pity about the prices though - it's so expen$ive!

Approximate cost: $25 (breakfast!)
