Amongst the best places to have steak, where you know that the $$ is 99% in the food, and less so in the surroundings. We had the eye fillet and rib eye. Both of our steaks were super tender, succulent and cooked exactly to our request. Their hand-cut chips were just pure excellency, crunchy skin but soft inside and was salted with just the right amount. The garlic butter went so well with the meat and both our sauces were delish. The surrounds, whilst not sumptuous luxury, were very comfortable and pleasant, just like sitting in a friend/relatives front dining room.

Great steak and atmosphere. Service was slow but this is a pub so cannot be too picky. Steak was well cooked and seasoned and much better than some overpriced expensive restaurants.

Approximate cost: $90

Family member suggested we go here for dinner and I am glad we did. My husband was in "steak heaven". We stared with the railway share platter - loved the calamari and crispy prawns, a definite must try. For mains i tried the veal parmigiana served with chips and salad, it was absolutely delicious - perfect! My husband ordered the 400gm porterhouse with mushroom sauce (had to pay extra for the sauce) he said it was fabulous, perfectly cooked and so tender. Loved the presentation of our meals, staff were friendly and efficient, cannot complain about anything only praise here.

Definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

Approximate cost: $26+

Attended the front bar for a quiet Saturday arvo beer.

Entering via the dining room, it looked pretty classy out the back for those looking for a good feed.

The front bar is your classic front bar that you'd find in a suburban pub. Big screens and TAB facilities available, and beer at an average price for a pub. The locals have most of the good seats, but there's still plenty of space for those just passing through. There's also tables outside for the smokers and people who like the al fresco set up.

The food looked good (we didn't dine) and seemed reasonably priced in the front bar, and the beer was clean, crisp, and cold. Next time we're at Port Melbourne, we'll definitely duck-in for a cold one!

Approximate cost: $4.40
