We just wanted to have some quick dessert. The sticky date pudding was delicious and the chocolate cake was good too. Very friendly people as well.

Had a really lovely breakfast here. Eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection and the service was fast and friendly. Coffee was hot and not bitter.

Had a lovely lunch here with my son. Kids meals are great value and great quality. My I had the Bacon Butty, while it taste ok, the presentation was a real let down and looked very unappealing just like and toasted sandwich I'd do at home, no garnish, just a sandwich on a really big plate. Certainly not worth the price. Service was very slow, took for ever to get someone to take my order and then it was over 115minute before our plates were cleared and I could get my sons desert. Great location and we were lucky as it snowed the day we went, with the fire cooking inside snow outside was a nice place for lunch. Possibly wouldn't go there again.

For some reason this place has declined. My last visit ended with average service, average meal and a late dinner. We were celebrating a birthday with a bunch of people (10) so you would think that we would have been treated a little special.

Nice cafe, always busy and popular. They do a great breakfast and lunch, haven't been for dinner. Service is not too bad. Wholesome food for a good price. Not a lot of parking available in the area so get in early if going for breakkie.

Approximate cost: $18

I have been here many times . It gets very busy and I normally love coming for coffee and cake . I love the Vanilla Slice one of the best you will get. I went for a wine and coffee with a friend and was disappointed with customer service, Howeverm Normally my experiences here have been good and although they get busy normally the service is a lot better.

Well said in your description of lack of service! Its a shame though as I would love to return to this restaurant to have the scones which are truly delicious. But sadly I was not overly impressed the first time I dined there, so I shall not be returning!

I'm more inclined to give the feedback directly to the business concerned if you have a negative experience; then if they don't respond in a way that's helpful, by all means write a negative review, but here you've even stated you normally loving going there. It's appalling service you experienced for sure, but I do believe in giving people the opportunity to make amends and lift their game and they can only do that if you have the courage to give direct feedback.

Ms Felicity I absolutely agree that yes you should give feedback in person but I was not even aknowledged as I was leaving the restaurant when I spend 10 to 15 minutes waiting to be seated and over 30 minutes waiting just for a glass of wine a coffee and slice of cake. When the restaurant was not busy I would understand if it was crazily busy. There was no apology for us having to seat our selves or for the wait and we were thirty after spending all up over 45 min in the restaurant we left because we were tired of waiting. I have worked in hospitality for many years and I would have approached the table leaving and said I am sorry for the wait .. I drove from Lilydale took me over 30 min to get there and 30 min back to just have a glass of water. I think I have been very reasonable with my review by saying that usually I have had good customer service and the food is good but I am upset with the customer service.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Ranges today. It became rather busy but more staff seemed to appear from somewhere! The food arrived in good time and was well-presented and tasted great. Very happy with the service and overall quality. Would go back again certainly.

We went to this establishment on a Sunday afternoon for lunch because we thought to make use of the Entertainment Book voucher which gave us 25% off the bill.

Well ..... we shall not be returning again.

My husband and I both ordered Ranges Mountain Bread which consisted of three small pieces of sliced french stick bread topped with a flavoursome mustard, paper thin slice of fresh tomatoe, ham and melted cheese. To be polite in saying having to say $14.50 each was way overpriced and not worth the cost!! In being fair and reasonable it was tasty but hardly not what we expected.

The best way to describe this snack is bruscetta and to pay $14.50 for such entree/snack is way too expensive in comparison to other dining establishments

The presentation was lovely on a dish, with the small bread slices neatly placed on the plate with drizzle of what I think was balsamic vinegar.

We also shard a serve of wedges which were not very hot when delivered to our table and slightly overcooked. A small tub of sour cream accompanied.

We were still hungry and after seeing dishes of scones being delivered to other diners, we ordered one serve to share between ourselves.

For $10 we had 2 large sized fresh tasting, hot scones with small pot of home made jam (which was absolutely divine) and whipped cream.

Had we known, we would have ordered the scones alone for dessert and had a main meal lunch at another establishment.

Perhaps this is a good place to go for coffee and desserts or cakes instead of a meal.

There is ample space inside and some seating outside. Plenty of room of prams (including ours and other patrons). Its family friendly as there were other children and babies there too at the same time as us.

Approximate cost: $20

Great review, thank you. I used to love visiting Ranges for breakfast but my last few visits have been ordinary. Glad it's not just me! Food quality and service have dropped whilst prices have increased. I tend to stick to the lolly shop or Pie in the Sky now :)

Another great review, detail appreciated. :)

This used to be a great restaurant with an imaginative modern menu. Now its back to standard "pub fare" I was a bit dissapointed last time I ate there, food was good but not memorable.

Ranges usually provides good service and food, and is one of my preferred places to go in the hills.
Last time I went for breakfast however, our drinks didn't come, a pot of honey came with my pancakes instead of the maple syrup that was supposed to come.
It was also a windy day and we watched a huge branch spear the meal of the table behind us-it was lucky that no one was injured. Sadly, the wait staff couldn't have cared less.
