Decent Chinese food... Served on white table cloths. Bit fancier than most of the normal dumplings restaurant and price reflects that
Great food and such generous portions for a great price. We were ready to roll out with our bellies full and satisfied.
Love this restaurant. The waitress has been very loyal to us, always taking care of us and making sure we have a great table. The food is delicious, we go for every occasion.
My mum loves this place, they have a great selection of yum cha, the staff come around often with trays of food and can take orders aswell. plenty for everyone and only $50 per couple
One of the better Yum Cha places that we really like in Melbourne. Usually easy to get in as it doesn't get too crowded. Staff are courteous and because many speak English they appeal to the Caucasian crowds too.
Like all large established middle of the road chinese restaurants, Ripples can be a hit and miss sometimes depending on the timing of your visit, the floor staff on duty, the history of your patronship with the place etc etc.
On a good visit, you can have quite a pleasant experience. On a bad visit, you may find yourself waiting an inordinate amount of time for food to arrive, absent service, uncomfortable surrounds etc. For me, the risk/return does not balance, but for others it may work.
Food is ok, price is to be expected, but the service by some staff is absolutely horrendous. Waitress came over and spilt my drink all over the table and on me....she straightened the glass and walked away , no apology and the drink which she spilt and I had paid for was not topped up until I asked and they charged me twice for it at the end which I had to rectify and explain to them, that one was knocked over by their staff. We asked for fork and spoon for the kids and some adults so she came with a handful and clanged them in a bunch on the table and said there you go. Waiters very clumsy stepping on my feet while serving, one waitress was very rude when we wanted to order something which was away from the Yum Cha Menu, she let out a big sigh while slumping her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I was absolutely baffled on the level of service we received considering we spent almost 400 dollars there for Fathers day just gone. Definitely will not go back due to the service. If you want to spoil a good night out go to Ripples in Bentleigh.
Approximate cost: $25
Remind me to avoid this place thanks for info.
People need to be aware. The food ok and price is to be expected but the service standard drags the place absolutely down. What a regrettable experience for such a memorable day like fathers day. One of the things you do as a patron going out to a restaurant is that you entrust your memorable occassion eg fathers day, birthday etc in the hands of the establishment you are dining in to make it not only an enjoyable outing but a memorable one also. Like I said, nothing wrong with the food or price , its the service that needs an overhaul. People skills 101 I would suggest.
Another great Chinese Restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Their Yum Cha is exlellent, so are all their dishes, taste the marvelous roasted duck. The place is well appointed, clean and very nice.
We have never been disappointed with our meals - exceptionally fresh and cooked to perfection. With anywhere, the service seems to be better when the restuarant is not busy but the food never suffers!
Went for yum cha with a group of friends. Thought was on the dearer side for Bentleigh. Food was very good though. Very fresh and tasty. Good variety of dumplings and a good mix of steamed and fried dishes.
