Excellent food! One of the best meals I've had in Melbourne. Have the banquet menu to get a taste of their signature dishes.

Can't rave about this place enough! The owner, Joseph, is friendly, helpful and amazingly talented.

We booked the place for a large (50+) lunch function, catered only vegetarian. Joseph created a full menu for us and everything was absolutely delicious. Typically reasonably expensive but definitely worth the price. I have been back since the event and am certainly planning on doing so again soon.

Lovely atmosphere, incredibly nice staff, menu set up as sharing plates, food delicious but light on middle eastern flavours and portions small for price. But over all a great experience and highly recommended.

One of the standouts on Lygon St, Brunswick which says a lot because it is on a strip which contains a lot of fantastic eateries. I love Rumi because it has a really nice cosy yet chic atmosphere, and the menu also offers a combination of comforting and sophisticated worldly dishes. To top it off, service is attentive and servings are generous.

Good value and good quality. Whilst it is out of the way, I would recommend this place over other middle eastern places in the CBD. The quality and thought in the menu is on par with or close to the CBD first class standard, yet you get a more reasonable serving, without the stiff waiter service.
Be sure to have a try of the Arak. It is the specialty drink after all.
I would recommend the Sigara Boreki - haloumi, feta and kasseri, the blend of the cheeses is soft, rich and salty, rolled delicately in a crisp and flakey pastry.
Also, recommend the roasted field mushrooms, which come with a avocado green sauce. Fear not, it is a garlic yoghurt & herb sauce, which adds a complexity and further dimension to the wonderfully meaty roasted mushrooms.
And of course, the roast meats. Wonderfully spiced and seasoned.

This restaurant is brilliant. The set menu options are really good value and the food is outstanding. A great place to take interstate/overseas visitors for dinner. The staff are knowledgeable and upbeat, and the environment is very comfortable. Great wine list too! Can't wait to go back.

I think we have a winner Melbourne. Rumi is just great. My other half even ate the Brussels Sprouts - he HATES sprouts. Everything we had (all vego) was marvellous - if this place was in North Melbourne I could eat here everyday. A really great dining experience.

Went to Rumi on Saturday night with the family and it was a great surprise. The food was to die for..... Middle Eastern cuisine. It's a little like tapas and we left it up to the waitress to make our selections. Make sure you have the cauliflower which was really unusual and tasty and also the lamb shoulder which just fell off the bone. Also the best Turkish delight I've ever tasted.

I took a friend here to say thank you as he always takes me out and i thought well it's about time I returned the favour. We ordered the banquet which we thoroughly enjoyed especially the fried cauliflower but were a touch dissapointed with the lamb dish as it was dry and not very tender. Everything else was great though and I would be happym to recommend Rumi for a wonderful middle eastern meal

On Monday night my boyfriend and I decided to have dinner at Rumi. We ordered the banquet / 5 courses. I loved everthing but particularly the meat balls, Labneh dip and the cauliflower.
The food was delicious and filling, but not to the point that you
burst at the seems. The service we received was fabulous & the staff were very accommodating. Definitely worth a shot!!

So far I have been dined here a couple of times.. The layour/decor of the restaurant is impressive!! Well, I never had a single bad experience at all .. Very happy with the food (Snapper and the freekeh salad are fabulous... quality of food: fresh, taste - perfect, well cooked and seasoned) and the service is Bravo! Recommended!

Gorgeous Middle Eastern food that you won't find any where else in Melbourne. The staff are attentive and helpful. They are a little bit pricey but the food is so good that you won't complain. You do need a booking though so call a week or so in advance.

Divine. The food here is amazing. Rustic without being too rustic. What can I say? It's like the best middle eastern mama in the world is cooking for you with the best produce available. Have the banquet. That's all I can say. And even better, the Alderman's right next door. Oh, good luck getting a booking without 2 weeks notice though...
