This place is reasonably priced for a Yarra Valley winery with mains at around $30 each and nice scenery, ambience and service. The winery is quite far on the outskirts of yarra Valley if you are coming from Melbourne but I would return again.

Took a drive to the Yarra Valley today and lunched at Shantell Winery

It was "to die for" and just the pick me up I needed

Small and intimate with attentive and friendly staff

Yummy food and wine and a fabulous view over the vineyard

What more could you ask for!

Approximate cost: $32

The restaurant is small, but has a lovely position overlooking the vineyards, with a couple of well-shaded decks for enjoying the fresh air as well.
The meals are much as you would expect in the Yarra Valley - good quality food presented well but more expensive than a good meal in the suburbs.
The wait staff were attentive and friendly, providing extra butter for the yummy, housemade complimentary bread, and refilling glasses promptly.
It is a fair drive out of the city, but the Yarra Valley is a pleasant place to drive anyway!
A few more signs would make it easier to find the right way in.

We've been several times, now..and the food and service are lovely.
The menu is not extensive, or cheap, but for a Full Experience (food, wine tasting, scenery, service), it's good value!
We had a 'taste' before lunch (strongly reccommend booking) of the good range of estate wines. Yarra Valley is Pinot & Chard country, but the other reds are terrific.
The dining area is airy, simple..and very pleasant. The staff are great. We had the platter as a starter. Don't be put off by the size -the 'tastes' were sensational. Great way to start with a group.
We have tried a range of the 'mains' and none have disappointed. Estate wines can be had by the glass, with recommendations available. We dipped a little deeper and drank an aged Cabernet with the meal. Lovely!
Our guests, on both visits, enjoyed Shantell, and the 'little extra' treat presented by the staff to honour a birthday was a nice touch.

They have a small range of artworks on display. Others will have to 'rate' them -I'll stick to the consumables!

Approximate cost: $30
