My favourite Italian restaurant in Victoria. Waiters are very friendly and genuinely care for your comfort and enjoyment in the restaurant. Food takes a while to come but mainly because there are so many people dining there. Food is better off earlier in the night.

Great dining experience everytime! You are welcomed almost immediately and shown to your table at the busy the restaurant. Servings are extremely generous - expect to share an entree sized pasta dish and the gelato for $6 looks like the tower of pisa! My favourite dishes are the apollo funghi and cabonara and the sofia special is also a good one. They also have a seafood platter for $20.

Approximate cost: $15

Loud, typical Italian family dining atmosphere. But was good value and the serves were huge! Plan to split if you want to get best value for your dollar. Small pizzas are perfect for one but the pasta dishes were ridiculous!

Approximate cost: $11.00

I think the food here is awful. It's oily and made with low quality ingredients. Last time I went I had marinara pasta and I felt like I was going to vomit. My husband had something different and he felt queasy afterwards too. I just would never go back when there are so many great Italian restaurants in Melbourne - why eat second rate food?

This review does not state when they last dined there, so cannot be treated as current or relevant. I eat there weekly with friends and nobody and have never felt nauseous!

Terrific place to eat in or take away. Great range of pizza and pasta and friendly service - good place for young kids too. Always very busy but with a relatively quick turnover! I particularly like that the owners and staff donate each year to the Royal Childrens Hospital appeal - and that we patrons contribute through them :)

Despite the fact that the place was buzzing service was speedy and polite. Atmosphere was delightful. I was there on a Friday night with family and the general ambience was light and fun-fuelled.

Food was tasty and plentiful. Not exactly haute cuisine but great for the price and well presented.

Approximate cost: $16 dollars

Have eaten at many Italian restaurants and i always find that although Sofia's as very generous servings, the food just isn't up to par. I find that the pastas are extremely creamy, and all the meals oily. Another thing that leaves me with a bad experience is the atmosphere, as sofias is a massive restaurant that just has too many people eating there.

I have eaten here on a few different occasions, the meals have always been very nice, and huge - entree size is big enough!, the gelati for dessert is also huge and very hard to get through. They cater well for groups as well in their upstairs room.

I've been going to Sophia's with my familty for years now, so trust me when I say you won't be disapointed. The serivice is that of any restaurant, it may take 5 minutes to prepare your food or 20, it depends of how many people are there and how elegant your meal is. The quality of your meal will be top notch, all the trimmings like salad and sides will be there to acompany your meal. The thing I like best about Sophia's is that you always get your money worth, the meal is large and nobody will walk away feeling hungry. Overall I highly suggest this place.
