Awesome Vegetarian food and they do an awesome buffet meal where you pick and choose what you like. Great location right on St Kilda beach with amazing views!

Soulmama has moved and changed. Now located on Fitzroy St, with funky new decor, great feel and an upmarket, more expensive menu than before. When it's done well you are willing to pay that extra. This was a hard one to rate as I have been there twice since the move and both experiences were completely different.
I ordered the burger that just blew my mind. Didn't sound like much - chickpeas and beetroot - but I have never tasted anything like it. It came with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely massive which took the sting out of paying $18. I also ordered the Gyoza which were incredible. The service was pretty lack lustre though, our waitress seemed disinterested and couldn't even manage a smile.
On my second visit the service was fantastic, bubbly friendly waitress. But..... my burger was completely different. What arrived was about half the size as last time, with a completely different texture and taste?! I ordered the gyoza again and this time they were burnt. The whole meal was very disappointing! I want to love this restaurant but if my meals are going to be so inconsistent I don't know if I'll go back.

this modern Australian buffet style restaurant is fabulous. A vegetarian cuisine that is Delicious is served! The very best vegetarian lasagna I have tasted!

I had heard good things about Soul Mama, so was expecting to go. We went for a friends birthday, and were really disappointed. As my husband pointed out, all the food tasted the same - bland and slightly spicy. We started with a quesadia which tasted OK, but the soy burger, and the slop served in the bay-marie was the same taste, just a different texture. You have to queue for the food unless you order off the very limited menu, not table service. The serves are big, but we didn't eat much due to lack of taste. So if value is quantity then its good value. The best thing going for this place are the views over the bay. I'd give this one a miss. There are better vegetarian places out there.

This place is great value, you get a lot of food for not very much money. They are a vegetarian restaurant and do great food. If you are allergic to nuts I'd give it a miss though - the only thing you can eat are some of the desserts

Soul Mamma is a wonderful resturant for the health conscious person. I love it because you can choose meal options confidently knowing they are truly vegetarian/gluten free, etc.

We always have a good dining experience at Soul Mama. The views from the windows are beautiful, the staff are friendly and the food is varied and tasty - a credit to the chefs. You can choose your serving sizes to suit the budget and appetite.
There are plenty of vegan options to choose from and meat eaters don't leave feeling empty despite it all being vegan/vegetarian - and we have taken a few carnivores to eat there!
The desserts are delicious and I dream of the pina colada sorbet that I had last time we visited.
On a busy night, it can get a little noisy, but if you take a few friends and love to have a hearty laugh, you won't be stared at for disturbing the peace!
We usually like to take a stroll along the boardwalk feeling pleasantly sated after our meal.

Went to dinner there one night, didn't realize it was a vegetarian restaurant. The food was nice but it was so loud. The staff were really helpful but I found the food to be a bit average for the price.

We went for dinner while the people we were staying with went to a work function. I thought the food was quite nice and the staff were friendly. The only problem we had was that it was insanely noisy. There weren't that many people there, it definitely wasn't packed but it was so loud that to have a conversation my date and I had to practically yell to each other. It wasn't particularly cheap in the end we decided just to get the entrees and go somewhere else because it gave me a terrible headache.

Approximate cost: $18
