Great and lovely building where they have kept it up to date just enough.
The cinema screens and sound are great and they run 70mm screenings too!
The toilets are a little smelly but i think it is just the old fashioned design.

We love the sun theatre! the prices are much cheaper than most cinemas and the theatres are cosy and luxurious. Fantastic for a great night out in the west!

I'd rather watch a movie here than at the big two any day of the week. This quaint cinema caters for all. I've been here for date nights, movie days with the kids (special screenings) and just the causal flick and it's hit the spot each time. I leave feeling happy unlike when I go to hoyts or village and just feel like my $18 had gone down the drain

My favourite place to watch a movie, from the brilliant couches of La Scala to the old fashioned seating in Davis, Always good value and who doesn't want to take a glass of wine into that latest children's movie...PS the chic tops rock

The Sun Theatre is a very enjoyable way to see a film, be it a Hollywood blockbuster, an independent movie or a home grown gem. They even simulcast operas from the Met and other world-famous venues. It has been remodelled to capture the Art Deco period and its former glory and each cinema is named after local theatres that used to run in the Footscray area. The cinemas vary in size with some having double couches of leather complete with little tables for your snacks and drinks (alcoholic or soft). Ticket prices for adults are only $17 and there are a number of membership options and cheaper days that are worthwhile. There is a great candy bar which sells old faves including choc tops and popcorn as well as coffee and wine - all at reasonable prices. Things to note; the Sun Theatre does not take credit cards - there is an ATM in the foyer though and you can book in advance online. ; bookings are required after 5pm on Saturdays and the cinemas fill up very quickly ; they run two parents and bubs sessions on a Wednesday - morning and evening, but there are no baby change facilities and sometimes the sessions are scheduled in a cinema with stairs - which doesn't make for an easy time if you've brought the pram along. ; car parking can be a bit of a challenge with many of the car parks snapped up quickly at peak times, but it is just a stone's throw away from the train station. ; there are plenty of dining options nearby if you want to take in 'dinner and a show'. They also sell vouchers which make great gifts. If you subscribe to the online newsletter, there is a trivia competition each week that you can enter to win a prize.
I love going to see a film at the Sun, it's a fantastic experience and far- removed form the "multiplex" shopping centre movie experience. Highly recommended for young and old.

Approximate cost: $17 per ticket - adults

This cinema is gorgeous, a real old world feel to it. Add in $10 tickets on Monday and Tuesdays and you any go wrong, great value to see new release films in style! You can buy a glass of wine or beer to take into the cinema with you, some of them even have couches so you can snuggle up to your movie watching partner in crime. The popcorn and snacks are no where near the prices charged at the large cinemas making this an even more enjoyable experience. Do yourself a favor and get down to the sun theatre as soon as you can!

$10 is pretty cheap for movies - especially with such a great venue for watching films with nice 'old world' feel decor

This is truly an old school cinema! I dont even go to normal cinemas anymore! Beautiful old building, the staff are so friendly, and the best thing is you can get a yearly membership and your movie tickets work out dirt cheap!

I love the old theatres too. There are a few in Adelaide if you ever visit.

Why go through all the hustle and bustle of crowds and noise at a large cinema complex when you can see the top line moves at the same price or cheaper at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville?

Normal tickets $16.50 and children (including teens up to 17 Wow!) are $11. Cheaper on Monday and Tuesday - $10.

You can also have children's party days here too and you can have social functions. There are vouchers and memberships which make tickets even cheaper.

It's tucked away in a small side street - the "T" intersection of Anderson Street. Now, this is a problem for parking, as it's a very narrow street, has parking both sides and so it's a case of waiting a few cars each way so you can pass each other.

Best thing to do is drop off, and then go to the end of the street and down to the Yarraville Railway station and park there.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Brings back many childhood memories of when there was a theatre in Newport.

Children love it too. Either we go as a family to see what's on - or sometimes the children go by themselves and I pick them up later. It's very safe. There's a nice little cafe next door where they can wait.

The top line movies are here like "The Hobbit" right now, but then you can also see lots of alternative and retro stuff that the "big" cinemas don't or won't show because there's a minority audience.

So many other things to do in this area too. Quirky shops, lovely food, as well as supermarkets and Post Office etc. Make a day out and enjoy!

Approximate cost: $11- 16.50

Gorgeous Art Deco theatre I enjoy visiting every time. Love that you can get a glass of wine from the bar to have whilst watching the latest blockbuster film. Will be coming back again! Ticket prices are a bit cheaper than average too.

Approximate cost: $17.00

I love the Sun Theatre. It has such charm and makes seeing a movie a real experience, not just something to fill in time. It's a great location near the station and plenty of parking. It's nice to have a glass of wine and comfy seats, or lounges to relax in while watching a movie, without having to pay more. It feel like gold class for every session, and no hefty price tag.
