It was ok. The place was clean at least.
The food was reasonable... most of it anyway
We got one questionable item. It smelled funny. Not sure why the chef didn't pick it up when they cooked it. But I got the wait staff to smell it and they took it back. Needless, we didn't pay for that item, but it shouldn't have been served in the first place!

T-chow continues to be totally inconsistent. The dishes are sometimes fabulous, sometimes terrible. My friend swears by them, and as a vegetarian, is often very attached to the places where she can get good chinese. But the weirdest thing happened the last time we were there - I tasted some of her vegetables, and realised there was fish sauce in it. I asked them, and they agreed there was fish sauce in the dinner.

It's kind of crazy that they don't provide a proper vegetarian menu in this day and age!

All in all, the main reason I come here is because my friends do. Otherwise, I might not darken their doors again!

We found the food was amazing here, particularly the sizzling beef, it was fabulous, as were the prawns. My wife loved the satay chicken as it is once of here favourites. Everything was perfect, delicious, reasonably priced and the service was prompt and friendly considering there was a large group of us, they coped really well. Everyone left truly satisfied.

It is reviews like this that make me SOOO confused about TChow!! Some people have the best experience ever, others have a mixed, or negative experience. I wonder if they have a couple of different managers and kitchen teams? That would explain the inconsistency!

We have been back twice since my last review and found the experience terrible, maybe they do have different kitchen teams/managers. Unsure if we will try again.

group of of us went there after fund raising event. Sat outside which was perfect. Some of us shared meals so I got to try the softest most delicate sweet and sour pork, you could taste capsicum with the onions, E-shan chicken which was soft, flavoursome, difficult to describe the delicate flavour other than you cant tell there is chili in there until it starts to cool down, the lemon chicken wasn't bad but the sizzling bbq beef with ginger, garlic and shallots was the piece de resistance. Two others on our table ordered the satay chicken which was a plate full of stir fried chicken with bean sprouts in a loose satay sauce. Two people ordered the vegetarian dumplings, add bottle of rose, lemon lime and bitters, bottle of coopers, sparkling water and maybe 3 other drinks on our table + steamed rice to share, $170 total.

We found this restaurant to be fabulous. All our meals were delicious especially the sizzling beef.

They have a drawcard for their lunch time Yum Cha. They shape a few of their dim sims into animal shapes. It's a cute idea.
However, other than that, there's no real plus for this restaurant over anywhere else. I mean you consistently see many people eating here and you wonder why.
Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not that great. And the people that work here could use some work. Perhaps it's because they know the owner or they're drawn in by the 'big-ness' of it all. It does look quite speccy, what with the large front windows and the nice interior.

Approximate cost: $avg

Enjoyed the food here. However, customer service could been improved. Dishes were very oily but this is expected for Chinese food. Would come here again.

I have been here a few times now, one of the bigger restaurants in the gouger street district, it's a bit loud but the food is always good and the staff are pretty good, sometimes it's hard to find a waiter but this may be due the sheer size of the restaurant, good restaurant overal will go back

Approximate cost: $15

T-chow is so inconsistent. I have friends who swear by it and some of the food is totally delicious, but some is a bit less so.

If you have favourites from the menu or someone recommends a dish, then it's a great place to eat. But we went there last night and whilst my vegetarian friend's dish was really tasty (salt and pepper tofu, very fragrant and delicious), mine wasn't.
I ordered the cabbage rolls, expecting something similar to a polish cabbage roll, and instead got a plate with 14 or 15 little escargo type rolls of chicken and prawn with only a teensy bit of the mushroom mentioned on the menu.
They would have been great as an entree as they were really rich and intense. Two or three would have hit the spot, then I would have been onto something else happily. But as a main they were pretty gross. Lots of little snacks piled on a plate don't make a great main!

We've had another bad experience with t-chow, when everything we ordered was delicious except for the claypot. I usually love a good claypot, but they were busy and had obviously run out of some ingredients. Instead of telling us to order something different, they sent it out looking woeful - instead of seafood and vegetables, it was seafood extender and carrot. It is actually the first time I've ever sent something back! We couldn't eat it! But the rest of the dinner was lovely, especially their san choy bow, and my friend was down from Melbourne and had a great time.

I think there's better chinese restaurants in the area, but some people swear by t-chow so I would recommend choosing something generic or following their choices!
