Somewhere spacious loaded with amazing animals in beaut enclosures that were large and well-designed to keep the animals as happy as possible. A large variety of African type animals as well as many, many others. We spent ages just ogling the giraffes! We drove slowly and stopped and walked around a bit then kept driving on to each of the animals on 'display' but you can hire bikes to ride around the smooth road. I think we will hire bikes next time - we will definitely be going back again. We have been twice already but love it as it has everything - cafe, restaurant, playground and even accommodation (but we didn't stay there as it was really pricey!). We stayed in local accommodation not too far away that was more reasonably priced and had a pool too.

This family activity is a lovely almost-outback adventure which is safe and perfect for all ages. Our children loved it and we loved it too. I am an animal lover so that helps I suppose!

Worth the money and if you have a family you can get a better deal on a family pass.

A visit here is fun, interesting, educational and we found it to be relaxing and very enjoyable on all accounts. From small to large animals this place really was exciting for us! We went in the cooler months of the year otherwise I expect it would get extremely hot in summer.

If you enjoy visiting zoos, then this place is a must see. Its an incredible place which I would describe as a safari park rather than a zoo. I felt like I was in Africa. You can drive around in your car to the various animal enclosures. The dirt roads are wide and there is plenty if parking space. You can also bring your own bike or hire one and explore the zoo this way. There are plenty of covered picnic areas. This zoo is enormous and there are many different areas to explore. It took me a good 2 days to have a thorough look at this place.

What a fantastic experience! Our ticket covered for 2 consecutive days. Before we went we wondered how you could spend 2 days there, but after spending over 5 hours there the first day, and not having nearly seen everything, we returned for another 4 hours the next day. Certainly, you can do it in one day, but we wanted to see some of the animal talks and feedings scheduled for visitors throughout the day.
The enclosures for the animals are large, and fenced in such a way that you feel like you are standing in the paddocks with the animals. And you can walk at least half way or more around each area, so that you have a better chance of viewing the animals. I am over 50, and saw several animals I have never heard of before.
Some might think that the admission is a bit high, but when you consider what is involved in maintaining such a facility (over 150 workers, we were told), and the fact that they support programs throughout the world to try and help threatened species, as well as the work they do themselves in research etc., then its an absolute bargain. We took a picnic lunch, lots of great areas to sit and relax, plus a kiosk and cafe on site.
A marvellous experience.

Approximate cost: $46 adults, $23 children 4-15, under 4 free.

I visited the zoo with my parents, grandparents and and sisters (all of us ranging in ages between 16 and 87) and we did the overnight stay in the zoo. This includes meals and several different guided tours at different times of the day - so we could see the nocturnal animals!

The food was really delicious and even grumpy little granny had a great time. There wasn't too much walking on the tours we were on and the zoo keepers who guided these tours were very friendly and knew a lot about the animals.

This was a definite highlight of a three week road trip =)

This is the best zoo I've been to. The zoo is very open so the animals aren't all caged up. There is a great variety of animals and it takes a whole day to get around. We walked but you can also hire bikes or carts or just drive around in your car. It was a great day out.

We loved the zoo - its lovely having no fences between the animals and ourselves. We did the early morning tour and it was well worth it! The 2 day entry is a great idea, but we managed to spring around the last part of the zoo and see everything in one day. If you have kids, it would probably take the whole two days =) We were wimps and drove, but I stayed for ages just watching the animals, it was great!

We enjoyed the zoo, it was great to hire a bike and ride around looking at the animals. You definitely need a day if you are planning on cycling around the zoo.

Heard lots of hype and good recommendations before visiting Dubbo Zoo. Perhaps this had my expectations too high? The zoo was good, don't get me wrong. Enough animals and nice grounds. It's a large zoo with various ways to get around including by car, walking, hiring golf buggies or bikes. We opted for bikes, which was a real novelty. The downfall of this park was the price. Entry is expensive and then they sting you even more for bike hire. Not that I expect these things to be free, but it's not a cheap half day out. I was glad to be riding a bike because it drew out the time, in a car, it would be all over in the blink of an eye. Worth a look in at least once in your life but shame about the cost.

Approximate cost: $45 plus $20 pp bike hire
