Lots of animals, everyone can feed the tigers, touch the wombats and also the Devils, See them at feed time. Good family place and lots to do, the kids will love it so much you will find it hard to get them to leave.

I took my daughter here a few years back and was really disappointed. You could not interact with the animals like you can in another zoo in Tasmania. We walked the whole zoo in less than an hour. For how much we paid we expected a little more than we seen.
The animal we seen the most of was kangaroos. The reptile enclosure was closed. The staff were friendly. From what i remember they had a small gift shop inside and wasn't badly priced for their items.

Approximate cost: $25 adult

Tasmania zoo may not be anywhere as big as a mainland zoo, but I still love it. They have a decent range of animals, birds, monkeys, reptiles, and the natives like emus, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils. If you go on there expecting it to be like mainland zoos, you will be disappointed, but if you take it for what it is, a small rural zoo, you should still enjoy it and the animals like I do.

Our whole experience at Tasmania Zoo was very underwhelming. I have no doubt that the staff and management at the zoo do the best they can with what they have, however they obviously have very little. There is not that much to see here (we completed our visit in a little over an hour) and the enclosures could definately do with some improving. If I was the Tasmanian government I would be putting some money into such a valuable place!
The work that these guys do is incredible, in particular their work with their isolated population of Tasmanian Devils and the staff are probably their most valuable asset - knowleadgable and friendly.
If you are used to mainland zoos then make sure you visit Tasmania Zoo with an open mind and don't expect too much. It is great for what it is (basically a slightly expanded former bird refuge) but nothing like other zoos in Australia. There are obvious signs of improvements already being made and hopefully this zoo can continue to grow and evolve.
