Good Thai but nothing that sets it apart from other Thai restaurants. A little more expensive than you would think for Thai.

Enjoyable restaurant when I want to have a simple night of Thai food pleasure. The servings are generous, the service is hospitable and and the atmosphere is great. Highly Recommend.

Used to love going here but the quality seems to have dropped off and so have the serving sizes. Pad Thai is a shadow of it's former tangy, sweet, chewy self... A shame. Green curry still tasty but not a lot of veg in there, just a lot of sauce. Bring back the quality!

Good place to go for Thai but not if you want anything fancy. Simple and rugged decor and atmosphere, it is often loud here but the dishes are generous, prices good, food is nice but not outstanding. Fairly reliable but it depends on what night you go, busier nights you risk having your order made wrong or slow waits for food. However, we also went on a quieter night and it was fine. Nothing special but good enough if you are hungry and want a big meal for cheap.

Good Thai place for a quick and inexpensive meal. We came here on a Friday night and it was busy but not too hectic. We were served fast enough and the food was not too far away. Good flavours and amount of food for the prices. Very simply decor and atmosphere, nothing special but the food and prices make up for it. handy location on Lygon st so not too far away when you feel like a Thai Fix

The most delicious Thai on Lygon street. It is always busy and sometimes hard to get a table...even if you have prebooked. The portions are large and it's value for money with excellent prices. Love it.

The food here is incredible, the line around the block at all times is a clear testament to that fact! I wouldn't recommend dining in as you can wait for a long long time for your food but calling ahead for takeaway is always a good plan. Must try the satay chicken skewers and the phad thai is the best of the best.

Value for $$$ is a no brainer here, such large servings at such a cheap price and tasty what do ya know!!! One dish is often enough for two people so keep that in mind, and it's BYO what more could you want. Nothing flash inside, so wouldn't invite clients there to eat, but great for a catch up with friends.

If you want a slice of Bangkok in Brunswick, this is the restaurant to be. Around five to six cooks at the front of the restaurant are non stop busy cooking all sorts of Thai dishes and the fragrance of their cooking permeates the restaurant. You can smell the authentic Thai flavors of chillies, fish sauce, curries and more. Their Pat Thai (Thai Glass noodles) is just like what you'd find in Bangkok at a busy store and the curries can be made so that they're not hot but full of flavor - have plenty of rice ready as you dine through different styles of curries. Realise that this is not your usual Thai restaurant, they don't do fish or prawn cakes - a limited menu of stir fries plus plus plus, but dishes are full of flavor.

Service can be a bit testy, you may need to flag down the waitress a few times to get what you want. I guess when you're that popular it's not always easy being a waitress here with everyone wanting things in a hurry!

After that, there's Gelo bar a few shops down - a great way to end the meal with some fantastic gelati!

This place has a great buzz and is always busy, with both take away and dining customers. The kitchen at the front, with flames leaping into the air, steam rising from woks, and freshly chopped ingredients adds a sense of Thai authenticity. There's a surprisingly large restaurant upstairs. Service is friendly and fast, and the flavours will keep you coming back.

Love this place. Food is YUMMO, fresh and a great serving size. The curries are the best I've ever tasted. Service isn't that good as it's difficult to understand most of the waitress. But you don't go there for the service or the atmosphere as the quality of the food and the value is worth the visit. It is crowded over the weekend so book or order take away.

The waitresses are great, you get heaps of tasty food for a very reasonable price. The reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because I don't like the atmosphere. It's very similar to other cheap Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai restaurants. There's just a cheap feel to everything. The utensils, the table, the seat, the noise generated by everyone which makes you have to shout at your friends. If you want cheap Thai food though, this is a great place.

Was introduced to this restaurant by a work mate and I have been on numerous occasions, I have sat both upstairs and downstairs. The food is fresh and I really like the Satay sticks - the sauce is to die for. Pad Thai is also another stand out.

Only negative is the noise upstairs- makes it really hard to hear what your fellow diners are saying as its just so loud. Certainly not a place for an intimate dinner for two, but for groups and familys its perfect.

Fantastic Thai food, the best I have been to. Very busy especially on Saturday evenings. It is quite small, crowded place but for the food it is worth it! Service is alright, sometimes you have to remind the waitresses of your orders. We always order the wide-ribbon noodles with black bean sauce and are never disappointed. Delicious!

This place is always busy and lively, the food is not the best or most traditional Thai food I've had but it's always good, there's plenty of it and it's good value.

Best in the summer when you can sit outside as it gets pretty noisy and crazy inside.

Great, high volume turnover Thai restaurant. Perfect for a meal with friends before a night out. Authentic Thai food which is brilliant and VERY cheap. Only problem is grabbing a waitress' attention on the weekend - this place is packed and often has a queue out the door!

Good value for money if you are looking for a decent meal without wanting to break the bank.
The Thai food served here is pretty run of the mill, but what you do get, you get loads of it, which makes up for the lack of quality.
The entrees are good, however the mains can end up tasting a bit similar.

We love Thaila Thai - we head over from the other side of town for it, but it's a great place to meet.
The food tastes like the food we ate in Thailand, and the chairs and tables are much the same. They use chicken breast which I'd much prefer, so I'm happy. ]

The best Thai food in the world... I live for Thaila Thai's chicken satays. I make my husband drive for an hour with our two kids screaming in the car just so I can get my Thaila's fix. In fact when we lived in Sydney for a year I made him bring take-away back on the plane!

The Thai Beef Salad is my favourite dish, it has a really tangy fish sauce over tomato, cucumber and better quality beef than you would expect in an affordable restaurant like this. The Pad Thai is also a must-have. We usually go there with a group of people and the dishes are so big you only need to order about 7-8 dishes for 10 people.

Thaila Thai is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I have been going there for about 10 years, since living nearby when I was at University. The food is great and the kitchen is in full display - you can see piles of cut vegies waiting to be cooked, flaming woks, and bowls of different sauces and spices. I have some dishes that have become pretty much a staple order - chicken satays, green curry with either chicken or beef, the pad thai and the chicken with cashew nut stir fry. The first and last dishes in this list are not to be missed. The chicken satay has an amazing peanut sauce and the chicken and cashew nut stir fry is as the name suggests, plus a lot of lightly cooked so they are still crispy vegetables.

And the value; there is a $12 minimum per head including drinks and sometimes its hard to keep above this. The dishes are large, so you there is really no need to order one per person if you are in a group.

I was introduced to this place by my brother, and later I moved around the corner so it became a regular place for a cheap feed. The menu is not extensive, and you may have to sit on plastic chars, but the food is delicious and the servings are huge.. and they are happy for you to take left overs home.
My favorite dishes are mixed satays, followed by green chicken curry and prawn pad thai.

Thai food worth travelling from caulfield for

Thai food worth travelling from Caulfield for

We were introduced to Thaila Thai by our daughter a few years ago. At first we said why would we want to spend up to an hour sitting in traffic to drive all the way to Brunswick. But after our first experience we were hooked. The interior of the restaurant is pretty average although they have recently opened an upstairs area with more modern chairs and tables.

The chicken satays are the best I've ever had and at $12 for 12 satays you can't complain.

Awesome fresh food in vast quantities. You can't beat the $6 chicken satays. The peanut sauce is to die for and the satay skewers are a very generous size.
