After doing some wine tasting nearby with my wife and son we decided the The Alma was the perfect choice for lunch as we have enjoyed many meals here. Well, yesterday was not the best day for a meal at The Alma. The young girl behind the counter was impatient, annoyed and rather rude. After checking out the menu board for some time we placed our order and paid for it. About 5 minutes later we were told they didn't have any oysters (we had ordered some for entree) this was disappointing and so we decided to order something else. My wife checked the menu on the board again and then noticed the printed menu had extra items on it. The young girl said the menu was exactly the same as to what was on the board, well infact in wasn't. So we ordered another entree which was wedges for our son and asked for the remaining money to be refunded. This girl couldn't even add up the amount owing, my wife informed her that the amount was incorrect and she responded with, 'it is correct in my head'. She then used a calculator and found she was incorrect. My wife asked for the refund and she said she had to make a phone call first. Let's just say, about 20 minutes later we received the refund. By the way, she made it very obvious that she was annoyed with us, no apology was given, no smiling, there was nothing pleasant about this staff member.

As for our meals, well the entrees were delicious and the wedges were certainly a generous serve. Our son had the calamari and chips, my wife the chicken schnitzel and I had garfish and chips. Honestly, my garfish was awful, it tasted like it had been frozen, basically tasteless and so overcooked, for some reason they served it with aioli, not tartar sauce. My wife also said her chicken schniztel was overcooked - dry, it had been deep fried and could really taste the oil right through the whole schnitzel. And to top that off, they have a delicious looking salad bar, my wife and I indulged but found the coleslaw and potato salad to be tasteless, couldn't understand it as they looked so good. There was also an apple and celery type salad which my wife tried and she also commented that it lacked flavour, usually she would go for seconds with a salad bar, but was not interested.

Overall, an extremely disappointing experience from the moment we placed our order. We felt we wasted $90 at The Alma!

I just have to say this is probably the worst customer service my wife and I have ever experienced.

We also have enjoyed our meals at the Alma in the past. So very disappointing to receive such bad, unfriendly service and then the meals to be unpleasant. A very good way for a hotel to lose a lot of business. It only takes one bad experience.

We had a belated birthday celebration dinner here today which was very enjoyable. Last minute booking was no problem, grass outside for grandchildren to play. Good menu and all the meals were large and well presented. All were well cooked and my wife had the largest caeser salad we have ever seen. So much chicken, bacon egg avocado cheese in the bowl. Look forward to returning another time too

Out of all the pubs/restaurants/cafes to choose from in Willunga, this certainly is our first choice, always reliable amazing food and service.

My family and friends love The Alma, they are fabulous. Our meals are always cooked to perfection, nicely presented and absolutely delicious. I especially enjoy their salad bar, so fresh and tasty.

The staff are very friendly and efficient, has a relaxing atmosphere and is great for families.

Prices are very reasonable.

I highly recommend you try them when in Willunga next.

This is a great place to go for a meal. Went here this weekend for a Birthday get together and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The menu was great, we shared dips with toasted pita bread, garlic bread and wedges with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream. Absolutely delicious. But that was the entrees, the mains were fabulous, I had the "Feather & Fin" which is chicken breast with asparagus and prawns with a creamy garlic sauce. Oh My! My husband had the Scotch fillet (as did most of the men in our party) others tried the Kangaroo fillet. They have an All you can eat salad and vegetable bar, so much to choose from and all looked and tasted delicious. No complaints, everyone enjoyed their meals and the waitress was great, very helpful and very fast service. Didn't wait long for our meals. They have special meal deals every day of the week. Very friendly atmosphere in this wonderful old country pub. You really must try, you wont be disappointed. Highly recommend!!!!!!!

Approximate cost: $20

We had disappointing service at the Alma. Bar staff disagreed with my choice of glass for MY drink. Food was average. Pub is old and tired.

Cheap food and reasonably priced drinks. The place for a cheap meal. However service is slow and meals do take longer than usual to cook. Good place for someone with patience who doesn't mind waiting. Also has a function room.

Approximate cost: $10-$25
