It was a bit crowded at the time when I went there. But it is worth the wait. It is so relax to sit in their garden. The food are fresh and tasty. Remeber to try out their rose water lemonade, best drink I have ever had.

I discovered this place just the other day - it's a little piece of paradise in the city! Despite the noise because of how busy it was, the food was fantastic, the service was great, and the atmosphere, decor and design are amazing. The grounds, gardens, interior design, and Kevin the pig make this cafe/restaurant one of my very favourite.

I went here for brunch once. Best place ever. Have a great and different experience, feel so natural. I love the rose water lemonade, that is so good!

Wow this place is busy! But it is a great place to have breakfast. We went on a Sunday morning and the place was buzzing. This place offers two distinct dining areas. There is the inside table service area which allows you to order from the full menu or the take away menu which you order, pay for and collect and can sit in the wonderful outdoor area (which frankly on the day we were there was brilliant as the inside was noisy and packed).

It was raining on the day we went so we couldn't really experience all the Grounds had to offer (that is checking out the place) but from what we saw we will def be back. Will probably aim to be there at opening to get in and out before it really gets busy.

It is a great place for all groups of people from families to the trendy DINKS.

Despite it being busy, the service from the take away counter was relatively fast and friendly. It is a little on the pricey side but that's probably because its good and there really wasn't anything else open.

The coffee was really good and the almond and chocolate croissant (who knew you could get almond AND chocolate!!) was absolutely delicious!

Approximate cost: $25 for two large coffees, plain crossiant, almond and chocolate croissant and a smoothy

Found this cafe via google as a kids friendly cafe. Went there on a weekday morning. Love the outside area - it is big, garden with play area. The bad news are - waited for 15 mins for the girl to take our order and when we got our breakfast, one of them was wrong. After we finished, ordered an extra take away coffee (coffee is GOOD), but the coffee was send to a wrong table. Have seen some good reviews about the place, so will go back again, hopefully the second visit will change our view.

I love this cafe! I've been here twice now and both times, service has been impeccable. Yes, there are long queues, especially if you want to sit outside, but it's been worth the wait. The food itself is nice, nothing spectaculair, but overall a great cafe experience. Heard they're opening up a market soon - think it's the perfect venue for this, especially cause they have such a lovely veggie/herb garden, so looking forward to checking it out!

Approximate cost: $16

The Grounds offers a complete dining experience! Situated in busy Alexandria, the cafe is buzzing! I visited there on a Thursday morning and I didn't have to wait long for a table, however I have heard on the weekends it gets crazily busy! Our service wasn't the fastest or most friendly, however the food definitely made up for it! We tried the breakfast board (highly recommend) and the eggs covered in fried quinoa. Both were amazing! Coffee was yummy and the fresh orange juice hit the spot. Make sure you take a wonder in the beautiful garden or sit and have a take away amongst the herbs. Great decor and well worth a visit!

Lovely Cafe and a real treat. So lucky to have such a good cafe in the Alexandria area, can be busy sometimes especially if a shopping bus tour is in which there are allot during sales periods and Christmas. But Its worth the wait.
Thay make allot of there food and drinks so its always freah, tasty and the service is very friendly.

There was a long queue the day we had lunch here (on a weekday) - 20 odd people waiting to be seated, but wanting only a table for two, we had to wait only about 15 minutes.
The noise level inside was quite high, we certainly weren't able to just chat across the table - I found it uncomfortably noisy, but I'm aware I'm a bit more sensitive to noisy environments than most people.
The service was friendly, and the speed of service about what you'd expect, given that it was extremely busy.
Both of us ordered the beef burger, it was quite tasty, although I thought the burger itself was a little dry. My sister thought hers was great though, so a matter of opinion.
Probably the highlight was the ginger beer my sister ordered - it tasted exactly like the ginger beer we used to make at home when we were kids, and I suspect it was made on the premises - it was so good, I'd go back again just for that!
The prices were as expected - it was a few weeks ago and I don't remember precisely, but I think it was about $36 - $38 for two burgers and two drinks, so probably around $15 for,the burger.

Approximate cost: $15

Very Good review. Well written and spot on we go to this Caf, I didn't review as you see by the lines it popular enough. They do make ginger beer and lemonade themselves. And the best coffee in Alexandria.
Thank you for some good reading

I had lunch here again last week (November 2013) and have to add this comment - my meal was great, I had the chicken burger. My niece had "smashed avocado" which also looked good - served on their "signature sourdough" (direct quote from the menu).
My sister had "Wagyu burger" on "our signature sourdough" (also verbatim from the menu) - the "burger" was actually a steak sandwich, and my main point - it was served on "charcoal bread" - which looked exactly as it sounds, precisely like charcoal!
My sister questioned it, and was assured, "just try it, I promise you'll love it!" She didn't love it, didn't eat much of it, and we actually got a copy of the menu back to double check.
When she pointed out that it wasn't listed on the menu, and was, in fact, described exactly the same as the perfectly normal sourdough bread her daughter was eating, they apologised and gave her a free dessert.
I tried the bread, didn't like it at all, and had it been served to me I would've sent it back immediately.
Apart from this, it's still a lovely venue, and I'd happily go back again. I'd just question the menu a bit more closely next time!
