I find this restaurant disappointing .... theres having history and just not updating things.
Service during my visit was apalling and no amount of history can make up for the overpriced menu.
I think there are a lot more deserving businesses to visit than one living in the past and not freshening things up to go with the cost of a visit here

This is an institution that has not changed its front shop face nor much of the inside in 50 yrs. There is a charm about that factor. Very European but serves Ozzie meals now of which I afforded a soup of the day which had good body and freshness in the leek and potato. I guess the winning factors are the coffee and the home made chocolates that are individual and inspired by many flavours of the world. Lots of history and a respite away from the chill factor and wind that blows up that main street in the winter months

It's been quite a few years since I left Central West NSW for the warmth of Qld, however I have fond memories of The Paragon. It really is a respite from those shockingly cold winds that whistle down the main street. The only place colder than Katoomba is Lithgow (or perhaps Blayney)! The smell of coffee inside was always divine. As a history buff I'm always a sucker for things old world.
