Ate here back in September,2:00pm on a Friday afternoon. We'd had drinks a few evenings before and the place seemed nice. The waiter was quite efficient and showed silver service skills. He seemed very dedicated so may have been management?! Anyway, that was the last of the good impression. So for lunch we ordered Steak Sandwich ($23.50) and Queso Dip ($15). The place was not very busy so the longer than half hour wait was the first pitfall. The drinks were also slow in coming. The girl behind the bar was nice,as she had been in the evening, but the waitress was just doing her job, nothing more or less.
The steak swch was average, the rustic fries were undercooked and had an unusual salt over them-possibly chicken salt with paprika and parsley mix ?(like one of those store bought ones). The Queso Dip was NOT value for money and a huge disappointment. There was no spice in it,no sign of peppers,no seasoning and it tasted like they had just melted two bland cheeses together and placed in a shallow bowl. The corn chips were a bit better-possibly a tortilla that they cut in to triangles ,then fried but these were unevenly cooked and had that over the top salt on it-i can handle salt but this was too much! Overall I think the place is overpriced. It looks great but does not match in reality.

We were really lookng forward to tryin gout Three Anchors. Such a great spot right on Middleton Beach, and I am certain it is going to go gangbusters in summer, and hence will be a really busy place to get in to. Beautifully renovated/decorated since the closure of when it was "Calamaris". So upmarket, done a great job. We ordered lunch, fish and chips for me and kanagaroo for hubby. Food was yummy, the ale batter on the fish was delicious, but was a tad diappointed for the $25 price tag that it only came with lettuce. (I did recheck the menu and it indeed said "salad greens', so that was my fault), but I do think a real salad for the price would have been better, as you usually get at other places. The chips were crisp, fresh and yum, as was the fish and the kangaroo was very tender. It was quite a small serve though for $28, and hubby was a bit hungry when we left. The service was friendly and en pointe, our only small gripe was that it took quite a while for the meals to come out, and it wasn't busy. It was an OK lunch, but not sure if it is any better than what you would expect from standard pub style fare (it's not a pub tohugh may I add- beer and wine only), and the wait time on meals was long. Would be great in summer with a cold beer and a snack after work me thinks. Location is tops.

The serve was ok but abit slow overall it wasnt to bad !!

We went to Three Anchors on A tuesday, and ordered the taco special. It was crispy chicken and fish taco's and a corona for $15, very cheap! We also ordered a side dish of potato and mushroom bake for $12. They forgot to bring our drinks, so we didn't get those for quite some time, which was a bit annoying, but hey, it happens. The meal came out and I have to say, it was very small. It was absolutely delicious though! They weren't really taco's, more like large cc's with some toppings, and you got four of them. The mushroom bake was really tasty but very small as well, so we were still hungry at the end. I think they really need to explain the menu a bit better when they take your order, suggesting that meals are quite small and that you really need to order one or two sides each, which we would happily have done. The service was average during the meal, but afterwards we left some feedback about giving customers more info about the menu when they order, and it was very well received (different waitress). It was nice, and I might go back one day for a beer and chips, but probably not for dinner I don't think. Very tasty though :-)
